Cahill shakes up backroom team as Kelly takes charge of Tipp minors

Liam Cahill will have a new-look Tipperary senior hurling management team in place in 2027.

Cahill, who will remain at the helm until 2029, has given his backroom team a major overhaul after a disappointing All-Ireland SHC defence this year. Brian O'Meara, Sean O'Meara and Paul O'Brien come on board as a selectors, with Aidan Stakelum joining as coaching support. 

Declan Laffan, TJ Ryan and Angelo Walsh have left their respective roles, with John Murphy replacing Walsh as S&C coach. Former Kilkenny goalkeeper David Herity left the set-up in July to join Henry Shefflin's new management in his native county.

Diarmuid Cahill, who recently stepped down as Longford boss, will be goalkeeping coach with Anne Marie Kennedy overseeing sports performance.

Tipperary have also announced the appointment of 2010 All-Ireland SHC winning captain Eoin Kelly as their new minor hurling manager.

The former sharpshooter has been involved with both the Tipperary and Waterford senior hurling teams while also playing an active role with his club CJ Kickhams Mullinahone.

“That level of experience, combined with his knowledge of Tipperary hurling and his understanding of what is required to perform at the highest level, will be invaluable as he takes on responsibility for the county's Minor Hurling team,” a county board statement read.
