Tributes have been paid to Philly Ryan after the Tipperary football manager’s untimely death earlier today.
The GAA world was shocked to learn that Mr Ryan passed away after having collapsed on Saturday morning.
Since then, tributes have flown for the 57-year-old Clonmel man, with Tipperary GAA releasing a statement which included the following: “The loss of Philly Ryan is a great blow to Tipperary football. We honour his memory, his service and his love of the game — and we commit to carry forward his legacy of ambition and community spirit.”
The county board has also decided to postpone its games for the remainder of the weekend as a mark of respect, including tomorrow’s senior football championship semi-final between Clonmel Commercials and Upperchurch Drombane.
Earlier today, Kilsheelan-Kilcash dethroned Loughmore-Castleiney of their SFC crown with a 1-14 to 2-9 which sees them into the county SFC final, and, speaking to TippFM afterwards, their manager Keith O’Brien paid tribute to the late Philly Ryan (watch below).
