Roy Keane has claimed the All-Ireland hurling final - especially when his beloved Cork are involved - is the best sporting occasion in the world.
The Manchester United icon made the claim during a conversation about great sporting events on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football last night. While acknowledging that the Superbowl and the razzamatazz that comes with it is 'fantastic', Keane said the Liam MacCarthy Cup decider topped the lot.
"The Superbowl in America is fantastic," he said.
"But I have to say that a hurling All-Ireland final is just really hard to beat - it's just a great day out, especially if Cork are playing, obviously, my home town."
The midfield maestro also gave a mention to legendary Cork dual star and manager Jimmy Barry-Murphy.
"It's been a big part of my life, hurling, watching Jimmy Barry Murphy play for Cork, a brilliant sportsman," he added.
