Replying To salvador:  "Armagh div 3. Sligo div 3.Fermanagh div 3. Clare div 3."
Armagh were divsion 2 when the beat us in 14. Sligo and fermanagh were both in 15. We lost to mayo and tryone in 13. If you want to right such negative nonsense at least get your facts right.

Replying To dave1988:  "Can't see many of that clann team making the county team.. Harney and lennon are the two obvious players and then jack connaughton should get a chance..should donie shine get a call up? Personally I don't think Cunningham will go down that road unless he has no other options..he will look at the younger lads to step up."
If you get shine fit there still is no better forwards then him in the county.

RTE and BBC showing the same game - 4 Like(s)

Replying To 890202:  "Today they decide to show Derry v Tyrone, despite the fact that BBC is going to show it too. Why not show us one of the other games rather than show a game already on elsewhere"
The reason the show so many ulster matches is the can use the bbc ni pictures for free and save money. It the same every year. Bbc ni can't show any games live that rte do not show as rte own the TV rights.

Replying To GaaGaa78:  "So you think it's acceptable that they had 'strippers' going down them on them while being videoed? Lads who are supposed to be representing their clubs, lads that are supposed to lead by example for the younger kids coming through the club. You're alright, i'm perfectly happy being outraged by this because their behaviour was outrageously disgraceful."
It is not up to these lads to give an example to any child other then there own if the have any. The were silly but it was involving 2 consenting adults. Alot worst going on

Replying To Upross80:  "Do you have any clue about football? What have you been watching all summer. We are not even close to Monaghan or Cork. I wouldn't fancy us against any of the 10 top teams in the country this year. My biggest hope is we can sort this mess out before next year. We have some fantastic talent around but we must have a system the players buy into, not some defensive game plan where the players were completely lost. Think it reflects badly on management that they kept at the same system throughout the champion when it clearly didn't work."
Yes we are not close to a cork team we beat by 25 points and who went on to lose to a divison 3 team and struggle to beat another 2 or a monaghan team who only won 4 games all year 2 of which were against a awfull down team. What negative rubbish

All the talk about Ulster!!!!Connacht is the strongest - 4 Like(s)

Replying To shaggylegend:  "The third best team in connacht will beat the best team in Connacht next weekend. Any team in ulster would love the draw Roscommon got to win a provincial final. Leitrim and Galway, Monaghan have won 4 games and lost one and are not even in quarter final. Championship structure is a joke. Monaghan won two games and only got to the Ulster semi final, Roscommon win two and get to the all Ireland quarter final. Ulster is not as strong as it was and that reflects when you had Fermanagh,Derry relegated to division 3 and Antrim to 4. But still we will have the most teams in Division 1 next year. Fair play to Galway last night but that's a young Donegal team and as Eamon McGee said when Donegal exit a championship they normally go out getting hammered."
I am sure alot of people would love to get Wexford carlow and down in order to get to a quarter final. It is the luck of the draw. Sligo would have had to beat new York, mayo, Galway and roscommon to win connacht. Far from easy.

James Horan seems to lauch cheap attacks both Galway and Roscommon alot in the media. It a pity that resorts to this when he is probably capable of giving good analysis.

Replying To endgame:  "The Galway hurlers didn't want Cunningham and the Galway hurlers didn't win the All-Ireland until after player power got Cunningham to resign. He lost Finals to a declining Kilkenny team in 2012 and more particularly in 2015 which Galway should never have lost.He might have a role to play as a coach but certainly not as a Manager.Next candidate please."
I wouldn't be so quick to rule him out. He has a better cv then any of the previous candidates linked with the job. Galway hurlers have underachieved for 30 years and the cats were still a class team in 2012.

Those games were at under 17 level.

Does GAA get fair coverage compared to soccer and rugby - 3 Like(s)

Replying To GreenandRed:  "[quote=Greengrass:  "[quote=GreenandRed:  "[quote=Greengrass:  "[quote=GreenandRed:  "The perception of unfair coverage."
The perception to which I was referring was that The GAA gets favourable coverage on RTE . That myth has been dismantled by mediamans sustained analysis of RTE's broadcast content ."]'Sustained Analysis' = selectively picking and choosing RTE news and sport items that back up his 'RTE are anti-GAA' agenda and presenting them as being statistical analysis. Are more than 50% of RTE's news and sports viewers exvlusively interested in GAA stories and coverage and have no interest in other sports?"]He referred not just yo the amount of coverage but also to the tone of the coverage most especially the negativity that is apparent. He has done this consistently across tv and Internet for abysses and his conclusions are rock solid . It is you who are in denial ."]He has done this consistently across tv and Internet for abysses and his conclusions are rock solid . Consistently ??? Keeps making up different criteria to suit his opinions. When it was pointed out to him that splitting GAA into hurling and football to increase the downtrodden effect he abandoned that plan. When he couldn't find enough béal bocht stories on RTE TV coverage he announces some criticism of the website not updating match scores within an unspecific timeframe. If a GAA story gets more minutes than other sports on 6:01 News it's criticised because it didn't get the 'coveted' first slot on the sports bulletin. He will never answer a direct question and he or his cheerleaders will never answer this question - Are more than 50% of RTE's news and sports viewers exclusively interested in GAA stories and coverage and have no interest in other sports? Because they know the answer is no. And never state what kind of GAA coverage and GAA news coverage would make them happy. Because no amount would make them happy, the only thing that makes them happy is whinging."]You are whinging about people whinging. Maybe mediaman can no overbroad at times but he/she are correct about not just the level but also the tone of the coverage. There seems to be a attiude with some on here that we should be gratefull if gaa gets any coverage at all and keep your month shut. Rte have no problem covering a story when it is negative about the gaa. It seems rte are reducing there coverage of sport as a whole, it would be sad to see it go the same way as the BBC which has virtually no live sport

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "I'm confident Galway will win Connaught, they just beat the 2nd best team in the country away and you could argue that they didn't even play as well as they can in that match, there's a flakiness about Rosscommon for me, I just don't see them being able to top this powerful Galway team, it will take the likes of Dublin Kerry or Monaghan to have the potential to beat them in my opinion."
The beat mayo last year didn't stop roscommon beating then by 9 points in salthill

Division One 2017 - 2 Like(s)

Replying To rossie1996:  "Niall Daly was offered a chance by McStay to play this year. Donie Shine was told he wasn't needed and rightly so. Not sure whether we will stay up or not but all this talk of only winning no games is rubbish.

The league never works out the way people predict it (see last year) and relegation is almost never settled until the last round of games, especially the second to last spot. Lets not forget we beat Donegal last year in Donegal, they are now without McNiallais, Toye, Gallagher and a good few others. Monaghan are shaping up horrendously with all their injuries and they only have one forward. We played terrible against them last year and still should have beaten them. No one knows how good Cavan are but we have them at home and will be slight favourites with home advantage."
Shine for all his injuries problems is still a usefull player to have around. It is worrying that mcstay has not called back the dalys and thetreatment of David Keenan was poor as well
