A minute’s silence was observed at all LGFA games in Clare last weekend as a mark of respect to Olivia Tuohy, who died while participating in the Edinburgh Half Marathon just over a week ago.
The 24-year-old’s passing has caused shock and sadness in Ennis as well as in her former clubs, Banner Ladies and Éire Óg, Ennis, who she played football and camogie with.
Leading the tributes, Banner Ladies Football Club wrote: “We wish to express our sadness at the passing of our friend and former team-mate Olivia Tuohy, daughter of Liz and Kieran. Our thoughts and prayers are with her parents, her brother Stephen, her partner Michael and her family at this sad time.”
The Clare woman’s death comes after another 24-year-old female runner – Ellen Cassidy – died after falling ill during the Cork City Marathon last Sunday.
