"Do you want to play their best team in the country in their home ground?"

Cavan's Seanie Johnston keeps possession from Sean Cavanagh of Tyrone in the NFL Division Two final at Croke Park.

Cavan’s All-Ireland SFC semi-final against Dublin should be played outside Croke Park, according to Seanie Johnston.

The former Breffni County footballer was a guest on 2fm’s ‘Game On’ last night and claimed that Dublin have an unfair advantage due to their familiarity with the Jones’ Road venue.

He believes the current Covid-19 restrictions on spectators attending games provides the GAA’s fixture makers with an opportunity to fix the last four clash for an alternative venue.

“You want to test yourself against the best and there's no doubt Cavan are going to play the best team in the country,” the Cavan Gaels clubman remarked.

“Do you want to play their best team in the country in their home ground? I don’t think they do.

“Why would Cavan want to go to Croke Park when they could potentially play Dublin in a smaller venue – it's not as if there are going to be huge crowds there.

“A lot of this Cavan team have been around a while and have played in Croke Park, played in National League finals. So it’s not a novelty of just going to play there.”
