Good luck to Eamon M. He will need it. Hope he can manage the weekly commute from Dingle to Lough George. It will not be easy. On the positive, he will have long summer holidays, he's a school principal, and so should have not too many issues in the summer. Is there any way he can be put up in accomodation in say Tuam, for a few nights each month. Anyway Gaillimah abú, good luck Eamon. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2779 - 02/10/2026 19:51:26 2695968 Link 0 |

Why would he be added to the management team? What actual managerial or coaching experience has he got at senior club level, never mind senior county level? Yes, he was a very good player, but so what? Being a good player does not automatically make someone a good coach or manager, and neither does being a good pundit or speaking about the game on TV. I do not see what he has done so far to justify being brought into a senior county management team. Leave him at the punditry. Yvrjd (Galway) - Posts: 34 - 02/10/2026 23:00:49 2695980 Link 1 |

I don't think Mike Meehan will be involved but If he was I think he woukd add a lot to it very well respected great knowledge of game which is a big plus as regards no coaching experience Padraig Joyce got county under 20 job with zero coaching done not even at club level ,

That is not true. Kerry born Thomas O Flatharty was Galway manager in 2010 till 2011. He was also ex Westmeath manager.

He said first Kerry man since John Evans. Evans managed Roscommon after Ó Flatharta was in Galway.

Firstly well done to Pj in bringing us to a level we havent been at in a few years, he was more than a bit unlucky not to win Sam but we had some great days out. Well done to Paul Bellew on an excellent appointment in Eamon Fitz, its clear that the prospect at managing at the highest level appealed to Eamon he had a grand cushy number with the media but the buzz of getting back on the sideline seems to have been the biggest factor in him doing the job next thing is selectors hopefully we will have a corofin man involved maybe Sice or Morris and we need someone to represent the West but anyone managing at Intermediate level show have a very good idea of all the players over there. Great interview yesterday and it is certainly bringing the buzz back into Galway football roll on 2027 Galway2001 (Galway) - Posts: 42 - 04/10/2026 09:20:46 2696081 Link 1 |

Should be a big demand for season tickets 2027, I think. Galway will only have to travel outside Connacht once in the NFL, to either Navan or Cork. 4 home games and away to the All Ireland Champions and the Ross. giveitlong (Galway) - Posts: 1344 - 04/10/2026 14:44:15 2696107 Link 0 |

Be interesting to see who is brought in alright. Hopefully Morris can be persuaded to come back, very popular with team and good to have some continuity with new to setup. Could Finian Hanley be on the ticket from the West? Some link with the u20s too, Kevin Johnson? ahsure. (Galway) - Posts: 1806 - 04/10/2026 15:00:46 2696109 Link 0 |
