I think Kilcar worth a punt if Owen mcgettigsn is injured. Mark McHugh has them playing like Westmeath. The two dunkineely lads are doing well - Jack hegarty is a good talent and the high ball issue of the past seems to be solved with former harps keeper Sean Boyle. I'll admit when I saw the number of household names on the dublin team i didn't hold out much hope for our men but they proved me wrong. Delighted for them after all the effort they put in. Some achievement.

Malin got out of jail a bit against Fanad who were a point ahead of them in injury time and had a sideline ball reversed for delaying it. Malin won it with a brilliant 2 point free after the ball got touched on the ground. Fanad's inside forwards were wasteful, when Malin play Carn in the semi , if they allow Conor O'Donnell the same chances, he won't miss them. Fanad supporters at the game felt it was a big chance missed and seemed to be questioning their own team selection, particularly the omission of their best 2-point shooter from the team.

Should be a great buzz about Inishowen in the buildup to the games. It's fantastic for Donegal football overall that the Inishowen teams are going so well. There were always good footballers up there, but maybe soccer was a higher priority in the past? I know Inishowen soccer teams are still strong, but their GAA teams have improved an awful lot over the last decade or so. It would be great if more Inishowen men can follow in the footsteps of the likes of McGonigle, O'Donnell and McColgan into the senior county setup. In the senior, Naomh Conaill look best placed. They have the squad and the experience, plus Ciaran Thompson's return is a serious boost. Last year they were almost caught out en-route to the final. Kilcar certainly have the players who can hurt any team, but they would probably need to get everything right, and hope Naomh Conaill are off it a wee bit? I see today that the big schools in the north have protested at the Donegal South West team taking part in the McRory Cup. The Ulster GAA has blocked them for playing. The South West team is an amalgamation of 5 schools, but I believe even with the 5 schools playing together, that the number of male pupils is still way below the numbers in the large schools in the North. It seems very petty to me, I dont think the schools in the North ever wanted donegal teams in the competition to begin with. A High level of Schools football is vital for the progress of these young lads, and that has a knock-on effect on the county team. So, does Donegal leave it at that? Be some going if they do. I watched the highlights of their clash with Buncrana. It looked like a serious game of football. Really ebbed and flowed. Some fantastic scores. I believe it was the Carndonagh corner back who scored the dramatic 2 pointer equaliser, outside the boot when under severe pressure, a great score. The interesting thing for me as well was their spread of scorers. They certainly do not rely too much on Conor O'Donnell, as good and all as he is. That was the Carn captain as well. Great player. The standard of two point kicking has been noteworthy in this year's championship. Across all grades. McHughs the other day against Glen was impressive after the dummy hop. Senan Carr also against Michaels started inside the arc, deliberately ran outside it and hook a beaut over his shoulder off his weaker foot.
