It's interesting to hear so many journos asking for var now but weren't interested in the galway complaints against Dublin. Dara ose the only journo calling out the double standards. It's amazing how some counties can influence changes in GAA

I think var will be a catastrophe tbh. Its bad enough in soccer but gaelic football is a full contact sport and almost every goal will have some sort of foul or debatable foul commited in the build up to it.

Unless itll just be used to check for square balls?

Looks like the Irish GAA journalists read the forum as they are only reporting about the AFL Dublin story now.

What I don't understand is the lack of airtime they are giving to the afl plans ? Is it a plan of say nothing and hope if fails ? The Aussies aren't hiding their plans for a Aussies rules international game with Ireland in the long-term. Its all online so the gaa journalists can't control what people know and the professional route the Australians are planning for Ireland.

Again no real hard questions from any GAA journalists about man utd v Leeds at croke park. I didn't even know it was on until last night but it seems GAA journalists have have don't cover anything that might rock the boat mindset ? If they don't report on it it doesn't happen? The lack of AFL discussion, the lack of opening up croke park to soccer for money and finishing the season quickly. The lack of any criticism or discussion by GAA journalists is disappointing especially when the season is over now.

What questions did you want them to ask? I didn't even know it was on either as I have no interest in it. I'm sure most GAA journalists are the same. Nice money for the GAA on a Wednesday evening though. If people are willing to pay that for a mickey mouse friendly, we'll gladly take it.
The GAA season isn't over. In your own county we have hundreds of club championship games this month. Beautiful weather to have them played in and some cracking football and hurling games.

To echo the poster above - what hard questions do you think should be asked??

Firstly, anyone still banging the drum that the hurling & football championships should continue into August or even September clearly has little or no appreciation of the club scene.

Secondly, even if hurling and football was still continuing....couldn't last night's match have gone ahead anyway?

Croke Park was in use last Sunday for the camogie finals. They were obviously able in the course of two or three days to remove the usual goalposts, scrub out the usual pitch markings, and set it up for a soccer match instead. If there were hurling or football semi-finals to be played there this weekend, do you not think they'd be able to scrub out the soccer markings, and put back the usual lines and goalposts in time for them?

Whatever about concerts, where you wouldn't want thousands of people on the pitch a few days before a match...no real reason not to allow another match midweek before going back to GAA action the following weekend.
