Congrats to Mayo. Fabulous day for them. Kerry seemed really unprepared for the high press and the sheer energy brought by Mayo. Their two pointers were excellent. Kobe a joy to watch. He just glides with the ball.

YESS! 2026 just like 1936, when Limerick and Mayo were also AI Champions. I've many Mayo friends and am thoroughly delighted for them. They were the better side by a good bit today but almost did an ex-Mayo on it by not converting their chances. When Jordan Flynn's palmed effort hit the crossbar, I thought: Oh no! Here we go again. Fortunately, they got over the line.

Super scenes, super occasion, super to watch. They'll winter very well over there now.

It's a shame Cillian O'Connor has struggled so much with injuries in recent years, but still nice for him to finally get his AI medal too.

Bravo to Mayo, a well earned win and truly a fairytale season. From questions being asked of them after the Roscommon collapse, they have rallied in the best possible way and leave All-Ireland Champions. I'd say deserved overall - Mayo were horrid unlucky in the past not to win it. The Mayo team of the 2010s was one of the best teams of all time, but had the misfortune of coexisting with the greatest team of all time in the Dublin 6 in a row team.

Kerry have never really reached the heights of last year and have had a stop start season. I think injuries killed them as fitness was probably an issue. Despite this, Mayo outmatched them in hunger which has nothing to do with fitness.

This does lead into my next point though. I have been a constant supporter of the split season as I think it is best for the club game which is very important to me, but in this condensed season the GAA has really become the survival of the fittest. Even Andy Moran said it in his post match interview - they were blessed to have a full hand going into the final. I know the schedule is the same for everyone but luck becomes a part of it. If a team has played a tougher game than their opponent the previous fixture, it definitely has an impact. I think we'll have to have discussions about this in the future.

Well done to Mayo. Their brave game plan and incredible intensity after going into a big early deficit was a credit to everyone involved in the panel. They outfought Kerry and kicked some lovely scores. Deserved winners.

I can't even begin to imagine the debauchery that's going to follow in Mayo all week.

Kerry just not at it and met a team that wanted to win the All Ireland more than they did. But this is Mayo's day. I was in the Davin and I have to say their fans were a joy to be around after the final whistle.
