Overall standard hasnt been the highest and the gap has closed because of that, I think any of the most recent formats would have worked given where things are at in this moment in time."
I think the standard has been super high. I know we can always point to individual games but lets start with the premise ( more or less universally undisputed) that football is much better and more enjoyable with the new rules. So based on that 2025 and 2026 are the best ever to date ( or at least in recent decades). My personal view is that 2026 is better than 2025. Dont like looking at specific examples but in 2025 semi kerry and tyrone played out an average enough 1.20 to 0.17 encounter . This year it was sn enthralling 2.25 to 0 27 with some fabulous performances. Throw in 3 massively entertaining provincial finals and many other great games as well. Some year for football...but there is no pleasing some people. Maybe people are struggling to lose the conventional mantra. " hurling is brilliant, football is crap"

It's been a great championship, attendances will back that up. The two teams who a have played well at the business end are in the final, no complaints.

Have Mayo been suitably tested? I think they have had a favourable run and Kerry will have too much for them, but in a one off game who knows

Nevin O'Donnell, ex-Leitrim goalie who also plied his trade with/in Cavan and London in his time. Meant to be a highly rated coach as well at 32. You'd wonder what his connection with Moola-cullen is

Maybe the talked about new government policy on housing in gaeltacht areas will have an impact on transfers to gaeltacht clubs, until then there are no restrictions on where people decide to locate to.

No team in History hashadthe easiest run that Mayo have had..and losing two games..."
No team in history has had as easy a run to a quarters as Galway had this year. Leitrim, Kildare at home (worst team in the All Ireland series), Westmeath at home (best possible draw at that stage).
Then you had people saying Galway were looking good and tipping them as closest challengers to Kerry, you literally could do nothing but look good with that draw

I think since you refer to history you only have to go back to 2000 or earlier, when AI quarter finals were the provincial finals. Cork, Kerry , Galway, Mayo, Roscommon regularly got to AI quarter finals by winning 1 match v div3 or 4 standard.

Handy draw alright. Mayo also have had a handy draw to the final but nothing too handy about a final v Kerry.

They had to run out of soft ones eventually!
