Replying To Viking66:  "It might not apply to lads who hurl for clubs up around the city but most of the lads I know from East and South Limerick dont or didnt play soccer at all. Only a couple did. And they dont bring their kids to play soccer either. In fact most of them dont or didnt even play Football.
Maybe my friends arent a representative group of the area they are from?"
Im from East limerick and soccer is very strong here. Most play or have played. Its the same over the border in Tipp. Some very strong clubs there too. Cian Lynch was a soccer player first and a very good one by all accounts as was his uncle Pa Carey. Xavier Nelligan from this year's minor team turned down the hurling academy to play soccer and only committed recently enough. I think soccer is strong everywhere. Its strong here in Roscommon too.

I often wonder about this in relation to the split season.

Was it not a far better structure club and county? We had club games early in the year which got clubs and players back and then we had the adventure of ghe summer.

I dont see it ever changing back but fir me it was far far better and I dont remember anyone complaining that summer, well until after the Tipp game!

The club players formed the CPA, that was a fair complaint!!!

Just having a listen to Diarmuid Mullins who was on with Colm Parkinson, originally from Laois but managed the Limerick Minors this year and was involved with their U20s back in 2022 when they lost to Kilkenny

Sounds like Limerick have 60 in their U14 panel, seemed to suggest that there was maybe an emphasis on getting lads from smaller or non-traditional hurling clubs into academies, was also talking about lads not being in one squad but making their way into another squad a few years on (Although mainly seemed to reference lads not playing Minor at county level but then playing U20 a few years later)

Was also talking about whether underage is more about winning or developing players, seemed to suggest it was a mix of both

Lord you coming on here to gloat says more about you than it does about us. Its like us beating Carlow and going to the Down page and gloating, don't get it.

Galway were superb

Good for hurlingj to have a different team in the final this year the game as whole is losing ground .
This just might give it a small boost and renewed energy and keep the net spread wider and more general interest. I think anyone from leinster has a little smile on their face tonight . Say nothing just smile and hope results like this will ignite the leinster sleeping giants again

What I found funny about that exchange with Canning and Donal.Og was that after all the noise about how many all Irelands they won etc. the person standing beside them saying nothing has more senior inter county all irelands than either of em. Ursula.Jacob

If you were to listen to Donal Og he would say that Cork winning an All Ireland is good for Hurling but only a Cork person would ever say that. As regards Leinster, Dublin never reached the level in the QF they can, Offaly were like a deer in the headlights, Kilkenny - something not right and hard to explain what happened this year, I think that is it a one off, Wexford, lost too many big names in the one year to be able to compete at the top level and will need some time to rebuild. All the talk of the demise of Leinster is overblown.
