In hindsight is our 2 point threat not what it should be? We seem to rely on 2 or 3 lads where other teams have a much better spread. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 530 - 28/06/2026 23:01:06 2682715 Link 0 |

The short and simple is we had more established players in d1 for years and got knocked by the likes of clare (promoted back to d1 at the time)cork,(fermanagh, sligo previously)Kildare.Winning u17/20 shouldn't anything to do the senior team. Its all good and well having quality ballers in the league, but it all also about consistency and players can't subtain it when it matters most (outside of Connacht). Also as read in the RH we are that important to need a sports psychologist

You misread my message Mayo. The crux is that I see no problems at all with our setup other than psychology. Thanks.

In fairness I think he is pointing out that all is good in the set up bar maybe from a psychology point of view. I would have to agree too. I think Mark Dowd, Ian Daly & John Rogers have done brilliantly this year. Sure the All Ireland series was poor but other than that it was a brilliant year. Division 1 football again next year and Connacht Champions 2026. Fine margins in the defeat to Tyrone and the Monaghan game appears to have been our one bad game in the championship. Every team seems to have one shocker in them. Unfortunately for us it came at a bad time. There is so much to be positive about going forward and hopefully we can all get behind the team again in 2027 and push on. With regard to Mayo, you have to say fair play to them. They have got back on the horse after the defeat to us (which was very sore no doubt and maybe a lot of teams would have folded for the year after a loss like that) and they have pushed on. They can only beat the teams in front of them and in fairness they went to Clones and won, we didn't. Yes, they've had a bit of luck along the way but all teams get that at some point. Good luck to them going forward. I can't see them winning it outright but who knows. One thing the championship has shown this year is that on a given day anything can happen. As for Galway, it was a day of frustration. 6 points up with 13 mins to go and then a questionable decision to award a penalty and black card. IMO I thought it was a free and that's all. There were 2 Galway defenders ahead of the Dublin player and it was not a clear goal scoring chance in my book. Surely the end of Conroy and maybe one or two others for Galway. They were probably the team most people would have backed to put it up to Kerry but fair play Dublin. They kept going and never lost heart. I'm assuming PJ will try and stay on at the helm too. Anyway, time now to look forward to two exciting semi finals. Best of luck to all and wouldn't it be great to see an underdog win it this year. I heard a mad one on the bar stool last night. Oddball (Roscommon) - Posts: 1047 - 29/06/2026 10:30:56 2682779 Link 0 |

Same as that. Very optimistic. Mark Dowd and his new team of players and coaches hit the ground running and played savage for most of the season. And yes, the hype after the Connacht final probably crept in, alongside our previously unknown players becoming man-marked all of a sudden. But overall we won't be as apprehensive as before facing into Division one football again next year. And when you consider the calibre of teams making it to All-Ireland semi-finals this year, there's not much for this team to fear going forward. On a good day I reckon we'll beat three out of the four of them.

We decided to play a corner forward who scored 1-1 in the last 4 games ahead of them. Cox and Carey are two excellent shooters but were not given enough of a chance this year. sourmilk93 (Roscommon) - Posts: 1298 - 29/06/2026 13:56:31 2682868 Link 0 |

delusional stuff, when does this end. Your forwards are bang average, Daire Cregg is no better than Mooney in Monaghan, Murtagh no better than Mc carron, Heneghan miles behind O hanlon and that just using Monaghan as a basis to compare. Totally overhyped players, totally. Daire Cregg talking about winning all Irelands, donie smith on podcasts talking about semi finals, Its been delusional and hyped for the last 15 yrs.

Was Conor Cox even named on any match day 26 this year? Must be close to mid 30s now and will likely retire from inter county football. Paul Carey at least was part of the Roscommon 26 for most and if not all games. Was still strange Duggan on his championship debut and the injured Enda Smith was brought on before him against Monaghan. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 4020 - 29/06/2026 16:06:02 2682947 Link 0 |

Aiming to reach a semi-final really delusional stuff? Meath last year and Louth this year have reached the semi-final. You are comparing Monaghan forwards to Roscommon yet had you overcome a 14 man Louth yesterday it would have been Monaghans 3rd semi-final since 2018.
