Not being smart but why would Clifford be sanctioned?

The 12 week ban is draconian giving the split season. Should be reduced to 8. Jack L (None) - Posts: 3210 - 25/05/2026 12:01:29 2675317 Link 0 |

The problem is here there is no middle ground. 12 weeks is ridiculous and I do believe this will be looked at going forward. But also Donegal playing the victim card is also ridiculous. He pushed a player, and the wrong one. A one game ban or something would be suitable. Also I don't believe Clifford went out to catch Caolan Mc the way he did. And also the half time incident was sparked by Donegal reacting to a nothing shoulder from Clifford. TheFlaker (Mayo) - Posts: 8843 - 25/05/2026 12:17:37 2675328 Link 2 |

Matters not one jot what Clifford's intention was, his arm was high, it was a red. You know what's also tiresome... McGuinness getting hounded by the entire country for every word or act he does out of place. People letting on that it's fairness issue and an upholding of the rules that they're pontificating about when it's nothing other than pure hatred for Jim that is driving them. I'm not referring to you, but it's all over social media. Lots of Armagh people seem awfully keen to uphold the gaa rule book, less so when the authorities couldn't act due to inconclusive video evidence of their thuggery after the ulster final last year. Strange that.

for his forearm to McGonagles head or even the after the hooter late charge on the donegal player again that he had no action taken against him. Had he not have done that at half time then the whole half time incident might not have happened.

He nailed MC Cole (I think) There wasn't a ball in sight. Got him with a forearm to neck/head Please let no one come back and say it was hand bags. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 2456 - 25/05/2026 12:37:44 2675334 Link 0 |

The officials let far too much go early doors and it was inevitable it was all going to escalate from both sides, real shame but happens far too often ,we can do without the macho stuff. isfeidirrlinn (Armagh) - Posts: 24 - 25/05/2026 12:44:16 2675339 Link 1 |

A push? A shove? Let's be honest. On the camera, it doesn't even clearly show if he even touched him. He squared up to him and quickly moved on. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 441 - 25/05/2026 12:53:42 2675343 Link 2 |

When you watch the video back you see 2 Kerry players holding Ryan while one got the punch in, Kerry bravery. ulsterrules (Donegal) - Posts: 290 - 25/05/2026 13:02:31 2675347 Link 2 |

The obsession people have with Jim is daft. People are waiting for him to fail and pile on. I've long been a defender of him on here but as I said he can't play the victim here and pretend it's an anti Donegal thing. It gets tiresome. Not everyone is anti Jim. There are balanced people who also say he's going to be luck to escape a ban.

I'm sure he is happy with his all Ireland medal well deserved for this group of Armagh players, the rest of us could only dream of it. But I'm sure he is a little sad that he was not part of McGeeney's Squad this year, I mean to miss out on Armagh's 2nd trophy in 13 years has to hurt a little ;-) ulsterrules (Donegal) - Posts: 290 - 25/05/2026 13:08:31 2675351 Link 0 |

Great to have a celtic cross surely as obviously not many ever from donegal or armagh can say the same. No ulster medal is still a sore one for him no matter what way you want to paint it.

Yeah I think the one earlier in the half was worse. No red card in the one before half time. Daire Cregg got sent off for a lot less, but I can't see DC getting sanctioned over it. TobeaRossie (Roscommon) - Posts: 181 - 25/05/2026 13:21:27 2675360 Link 0 |

I don't think Jim said anything whatsoever about it being an anti Donegal thing. He was put on the spot by a journo looking for the big story (gentleman or not, he knew full well what he was at). He looked like a rabbit in the headlights and didn't react well. So what, he's human and it was an absolutely nothing incident in the grand scheme of things. He was caught on the hop and got a very defensive. Big deal. He may get 12 weeks and if he doesn't it will be more due to the content of the ref's report. If Jim gets a suspension, there will be many others who will too, including Clifford.

Listen to the football pod, one kerryman says Murphy deserved the booing. Mask continues to slip from the saviours of football. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1632 - 25/05/2026 13:43:48 2675374 Link 0 |
