Replying To LongfordgaaAbú:  "This weekend is the only round of ACFL Division 1 games between now and start of Tailteann Cup on 9th/10th May. Makes you wonder why the county lads were not playing for their clubs last weekend seeing as they have a long gap after this weekend to recover and prepare for Tailteann."
It doesn't make much sense that fixtures were moved around for county players to not be released. Making a mockery of the league fixtures with no county players available for the entire competition.

Years ago used to be a far better setup. Bertie Allen Cup was played as a pre-season league without county players and then the league started in April or so and all county players were always available for every game. The league and Leader cup actually meant something. The county board have managed to make a mockery of it over the years and yhe league is a complete joke now tbh.

It's not right county players only getting about 2 maybe 3 league games max with their club before the championship kicks off.
Club managers who have several lads in on the county panel, only have a short period of time with a full squad to work with.

It's no wonder club managers ask there county players to leave panels if they aren't getting game time. Left to sit on the bench and only train for most of the year. A little bit more balance would be helpful and would increase the quality of the league games. Any word on when the draw for the championship will be,

I think last year they didn't make the draws until a month before it started!

If you don't play in the game that week for county then you should be allowed play for your club

Anyone know why the game in the Laurels was pulled tonight, hope it wasn't anything serious like injury or illness.

Was at the Carrickedmond game, they were full value for their win. They kicked 3 or 4 two pointers in second half, one from a free deep in injury time to win. No county players, Killoe were missing 7 or 8 from what I could count, maybe more. They looked good at times until they got to the arc. Carrickedmond were very good from the 20min mark onwards.

A Clonguish player got knocked out in an accidental collision at the very start of the second half and couldn't be moved from the pitch until an ambulance arrived from Cavan.

Longford will have at least two rounds in Tailteann Cup with this years format. So county panel lads could be back with clubs for the final round of ACFL Division 1 IF Longford don't make it past those two rounds, or will not be back with clubs for any of ACFL Division 1 if Longford make it to Round 3. If you are a club in Division 2, your county lads won't be involved in league rounds at all. So we now have a situation where most senior league games are on Friday nights, and county panel members are not practically involved at all. We somehow managed to achieve the exact opposite of what the split season is supposed to be about.
