Replying To Pope_Benedict:  "Didn't Trayers play centrally at no3 or no6 all NHL? He might be retained in a central position? If Cianan Fahy is only as good as his last game, that being the first half v Limerick, he might struggle to get a start for this one."
Trayers will play 3 or the league was a waste of his time

I'm not in love with PM at 6 but I suspect this will happen.

Is Dáithi Burke available?

Trayers has to start at full back. Shane O'Brien got absolutely no change out of him before we went off in the Limerick game. Centre back is a bit of a conundrum if Daithi is still out. I'd say they would rather keep Mannion on the wing so maybe Cian Daniels could do to 6 and we could play Monaghan and Gavin Lee (if fit) in the middle. I'd be trying to get Hanrahan in at corner back opposite Joshua Ryan and let Morrissey hurl at wing back.

Kilkenny seem very rattled by the result of a poxy league game in March don't they? We've all forgotten about it, certainly nobody here seems to think it will impact Saturday anyway.

If Paddy Deegan is actually trying to use it as 'extra motivation for Saturday' he might as well stay at home.
KK playing the poor mouth is something to behold though, not that there's much danger any of us'll buy what they are selling

Weather forecast for Saturday is good and I'm not sure if RTE are broadcasting the game live. There should be a big crowd in Pearce Stadium.
I'm expecting Galway to win, terribly unlucky not to reach the League Final and their form is good. MD has built a fine team who will get better throughout the Championship.
Galway to win by 5pts or more.

This first ten minutes in Salthill are going to be hot and heavy if Eoin Cody's comments are anything to go by. Kilkenny are surely going to come out and try lay down a few markers early. I expect Niland and Rabbitte will be on the receiving end of a few late hits or stray pulls but if we withstand them early I think we will have too much for them to handle up front. I'd be happy enough if Mikey Butler wants to go following Niland all around the field given we saw in the league game that Mikey Carey won't hold up against Whelan matched up inside.

Can't see Daithi or Lee lining out, straight away after returning from injury, if fit at all. Killeen and Daniels will be the midfield partnership.

Its the media. They keep asking the same question. Thats bound to annoy anyone. There are only so many ways to answer the same question.

I think you are probably right. I would Imagine Trayers at 3 with Daithi probably on the bench to come in later.

I wish I had your confidence Katzer. I'll be happy with a one point win. KK will be much improved over the League match.

Joshua Ryan is a lock at 2 also I'd imagine

No point playing a guy there throughout the league when you're team building to drop him at the first sign of a championship game

If we are basing on league form which won't be the only factor of course, then Ryan, Trayers and Daniels will all play. Highly likely Rabbitte and Niland will also. That's a lot of players debuting against KK in championship but if they are among the best we have at the moment then let's see them all.

I reckon if we are going to make an impact this year Rabbitte will be key to it upfront. His potential is enormous.

I predict a surprise or two in the team selection.
I'd say 2 All Ireland medal winners will start.

Does niland stay on frees or do they give them to cathal mannion. Mannion was on them throughout league until last 2 games against kk and limerick where niland took over. 20s play kk next Wednesday but that won't deter their playing time this weekend . Could play a factor in latter rounds as the leinster semi is 13th May and final following wed 20th and we play dubs in between those and Wexford the weekend after 20s leinster final.. That's assuming we make it to a leinster final

Whelan will start for sure.
Listening to interviews with Eoin Cody and Paddy Deegan Kilkenny are a wounded animal coming to Salthill.
Expect them to bring the battle. We are pre warned. Hopefully it's no surprise on the day to us

I think we may see Concannon or Molloy over Whelan for a week or two.

I don't buy the siege mentality act Kilkenny are trying to play up here. They have dominated Galway for years, the wounded animal should be the lads from the west!

Whelan for me with his physical presence and maybe Concannon. Molloy is very small and has no presence. He may be ok for last 10 min.
