Hurling Championship 2026

(Oldest Posts First)

It's like Christmas week, with Championship starting this weekend.

Looking forward to sitting down for the weekend and soaking it all in.

How is everyone feeling?

Any predictions or Team news or rumours?

Feeling good lad. Can't wait to be sitting in Eddie Rockets in Newbridge before the game!

Christmas week indeed!

Great weekend ahead with a a mouthwatering Leinster clash to kick it all off on Saturday afternoon.

I'll be heading to Thurles on Sunday with absolutely no idea how the game will go. Apparently, everyone is saying that Tipp are flying under the radar, but I don't agree. Everyone will fear them.

Intrigued to see how Waterford fare in Ennis, and how Kildare do in their game against Wexford.

Everyone should fear Tipp.

I have no doubt Tipp have had their minds on Cork next Sunday since the fixtures came out and everything they have done is building up to this. I think they went all out early in December and January and then did a heavy block of Training in late February and early March. Fine tuning of their game plan under the radar in the last couple of weeks. Cahill and Bevans will have them primed.

I also think Cork were shadow boxing a bit against Limerick in the league final. I watched it back on Friday night and I am convinced they were simply trying not to show their hands or give anyone else something to analyse. There were flashes of what they can bring, but they never ran at the Limerick half backs. I expect the ruthlessness, engaging the opposition and overlap runs will be back next Sunday and It should make for a intriguing game.

I can't decide who will win so I'm backing a draw

I think Clare in Ennis will still have too much for Waterford. I hear Tony Kelly and Mark Rodgers are supposedly winning their fitness battles and will likely play some part. I know Austin Gleeson is a generational talent but If Waterford have to go back to him again (not having played in the league) then I don't believe it will bode well for them.

I feel Galway will beat Kilkenny
I think Wexford will beat Kildare
Dublin will beat Offaly

Mayo had a big win in Tier 4 of the championship. Joe Mac - Tier 2 of the championship should be a good battle as usual. Antrim, Carlow, Laois and Westmeath have all competed in the Leinster championship in recent enough times. All 4 should be in the shakeup to make the final.

Dublin and Wexford need to be winning comfortably if they have any kind of ambition.

I reckon Cats will turn tables on Galway.

Munster games hard to call. Home advantage might be crucial. Looking at the fixtures it really is a mine field. Be brave man predict results with confidence.

Getting the two points is what matters. First game of the championship is always a banana skin.

Im hoping for those results too, not because Im particularly anti Kilkenny these days, well not so much any more and Im even trying hard not to dislike Offaly as much also, but because of the media narrative. A narrative largely based on the huge number of Leinster games they go to, or even watch on tv ;-)
