To joe and the team thank you for delivering a piece of football silverware in croke park add that to our joe mcdonagh win a couple years ago and we've jad another great day in croker.

We're a small county but we're mighty fair to all involved.

Congratulations on your league victory. Shows what can be done when you get the right man in charge and the players rowing in behind him.

What can I say? Our first ever silverware in Football in Croke Park. I am so proud of all the lads. I remember the feeling after laois beat us in 2018 & today we reversed that. Wasn't a perfect performance but we got there. To see a Carlow captain lift a cup in the Hogan Stand was unbelievable.
We were the better team throughout the game but how many goals did we miss ? I highlighted this earlier in the league about us failing to take our goal chances. Nearly cost us today. Not having a pop at anyone but we conceded 2 very poor goals today, I'll stand over my previous comments. Not up to inter county standard. Ruth was my MOTM but Doyle was close 2nd. Hopefully the lads will drive it on for Wicklow now in 2 weeks.

Congratulations to Carlow on a great win in Croke Park. It was a great game for the neutrals and both teams were out on their feet at the end. Carlow were the better team but the red card decisively tilted it away from a resilient Longford team. Games like this underpin the need to further develop proper championship structures for all counties. A space is now needed on the wall in the Irishman's for Carlow footballers 2026.

Who is not up to inter county standard and who precisely would you replace them with?

We have only 20 football clubs in Carlow.

A key difference between this and 2018 is that back then we lost to Laois in the league proper and then lost the final as well. Which was then followed by losing to them a third time in the Leinster semi.

This time we turned it around against Longford. Albeit with great difficulty. That will stand to the lads doing forward.

Well done to everyone. Thank you, Joe Murphy.

And please… I never want to see an outside manager running football in Carlow again, unless they have extensive experience of the local club scene (like Bobby Miller or Tom Mullally). This should prove the point once and for all.

Ruth and Furey were excellent in mf. Dara Curran and P Bolger really stepped it up too. Need to drive it on now, better teams tha Longford out there that we are capable of beating when in the zone.

Third time to see the footballers in croker in my life and finally got over the line, missed the league final in 2018. Don't think I'd have preferred a win in any other kind of way, same as the last Joe Mc win. Great to see so many greet the team back as well, I was worried it would be quiet given the short notice.

Bit of a harsh assessment on the mistakes, was instrumental all league with the brilliant kick outs and he's a young lad. It happens and we escaped, best option we have. Ruth, Doyle and Phiri my MOTM, phiri was excellent at the back and in the right place at the right time.

Hopefully beat Wicklow, get a crack at the dubs and enjoy championship season.

Also side note, yesterday was a year exactly the players had to release their statement after the managerial debacle. What a statement yesterday was to win the league outright.

Great result yesterday. Full credit to Joe Murphy and his team for the turn around within a year. The results in the league speak for themselves and indeed in the wider historic context.

It was clear we had a gameplan -and rigidly adhered to it. It worked and we got over the line. Some of the players 'sacrificed' their more instinctive game for our possession-based strategy. I did feel we let them back into it on numerous occasions - some gift wrapped scores for them - and failed on several occasions to kick on when in control. Saying that, I do feel the more experience some of the younger lads get the better. The kick-out when it worked (most of the time), it worked very well.

It could be argued the sending off was the decisive factor, but I do feel we still on balance had enough to do it. However towards the end whether it was game management, tiredness or fear of mistake it was still one score for them to equalise and we we still passing around - they secured possession and had a half goal chance near the death. I feel we should have ran at them more to close it out - when we did we created opportunities - we had fresh legs on at that point - Clarke and Choo Choo with huge pace. Anyway that is all moot now, we got there.

Unfair to single out players for praise or criticism Great spread of scorers, subs who came on added to our tally. It also sounds obvious, but what was heartening was the IMMENSE work-rate of the players. Lads got stuck in all over the pitch - a complete team performance with no show ponies.

Onwards to Wicklow next !!

So proud to see our county colours flying high in croke park. Terrific performance. Fair play longford. You never gave up. Carlow excellent performance from all concerned agree with earlier post on Fury Phiri Ruth Curran Bolger big performance from them. But whole team excellent. know their roll wheather starting or coming on. Need to start taking all these goal chances created. Enjoy few days. You have the whole county behind you now for what will be a very tough championship game with our neighbors Wicklow. Thank you for the amazing experience yesterday in croke park. Was emotional hearing the chant of Carlow ringing out as we were receiving the division four trophy.well done to all concerned.

My thoughts exactly you could see we had a plan and were doing it. We haven't had that since turlough/poacher. It's great to see. Impact from the bench was a big factor too.
