Replying To BarneyGrant:  "Trump is doing exactly what his predecessors Biden, Obama, Bush and Clinton did.

Proof that it doesn't really matter who is elected when it comes of overseas policy which is basically written by Israel and the war corporations and the other beneficiaries of these adventures.

You would have been just as deluded electing Harris."
While I agree with you that all American presidents serve the needs of Israel above all else. Trump is the first one to fulfill Netanyahu's 40 year dream of attacking Iran. A decision that could bring about a full blown world war. Can we at least have some real talk from those who backed Trump, about that major piece of history in the making? This simply cant be left at the door of anyone but Trump.

He ran on releasing the Epstein files in full. Not hiding things. He ran on not interfering in how other countries are run. He slated previous administrations form their foreign policy. And tax cuts for overtime and tips........ you think Trump brought this in?"
You can deport all you like but it's quite useless with a WIDE OPEN BORDER. You left that part out. And I said ILLEGAL immigration. I'm fully in agreement with you about Iran. I'm not happy about ANY wars. I hope it ends quickly but I strongly doubt it.

Replying To SouthGalway:  "Interesting how you Trump haters always dump back on "the others". See? I can play too. Now Pay Attention: In elections you have CHOICES and to the Voters of the USA he seemed to be the best choice. If the other side just took care of the BASICS he would never win what with all his negative media and Hollywood coverage 24/7. Safer? About the same. But you hated him far before this war which I am totally against as I pointed out already. Stop pretending to be open minded because you're allergic to that concept."
Wrong on all counts. I don't hate anyone. At almost 80 yrs of age, it's praying for a happy death I spend time doing and hate is something that never consumed me, thankfully. Some people I dislike, but that's it. And, it's obvious that you can play, as this whole MAGA adventure seems to be a game to you. And no, I won't "pay attention" to a MAGA supporter on demand. As another poster has pointed out, it's this electoral college and it's anomalies that brought your man to the fore. "Allergic to the concept of open mindedness". Wow, you really had the AI search engines in overdrive here.

America's farming and construction industry would collapse overnight if all illegals disappeared overnight. That's a fact. Your average American doubt be going out picking fruit. What America should be doing is looking for a path to citizenship for those there years and contributing to society and paying taxes. Illegals on benefits can be turfed out but due process has to be followed.

Whats happening under the Trump administration is a car crash of "epic" proportions. America has unfortunately se itself up for another 9/11 due to going into Iran. Just wait until they have to put boots on the ground…..

Replying To Viking66:  "By population Trump didnt actually have a majority of the votes cast, he got 49%. And in 2016 he actually got 2 million less votes than Clinton. Again less than 50%.
No Republican president has polled over 50% of the vote since 2004, while the last 3 elections won by the Democrats since then were all won by candidates who won more than 50% of the votes.
Its an anomaly of the electoral system you have over there."
True, but College votes is what matters in the US and Trump had a landslide 312 vs 226 win over Harris, and while he may not have had over 50% of the electorate, he still got a higher percentage of the votes (49.8% vs 48.3%) than Kamela Harris.
There was a 63.45% turnout of eligible voters, which is very high.

Compare that to Ireland
2025 Presidential election, there was a 45.83% turnout of eligible voters, of which Catherine Connolly won 63.36% of the votes cast, but only 25.3%% of total 3614450 electorate.

2024 General Election, there was a 59.7% turnout of eligible voters, of which Taoiseacht Michael Martin's Fianna Fail got 22.2% of the total poll, representing 13.25% of the total electorate. While Coalition partner and Tainaiste Simon Harris Fine Gael got 20.9% of the total poll, representing 12.4% of the eligible voters.

Trump won both votes, and arguably has a bigger mandate in terms of percentage eligible voters backing him that what we get in Ireland.

Surely Ireland beating Scotland was a good result.
By so doing we won the triple crown. No mean achievement.
We finished 2nd in the 6 nations.
No mean achievement.
16 winners in Cheltenham.
No mean achievement.
Your beloved Dublin beat Armagh.
Overall I would think it was a good week.

Why say " come on France"
As you well know if England had held out in those last few seconds we would be champions.
Do you hate the English that much that you would prefer France to win. Even at our cost?
I, like the majority of right thinking people was cheering and hoping that England would win and land the big prize for Ireland.
To think otherwise is silly in the extreme.

No right minded Irishman cheers on England, if they beat France so be it but don't cheer them on.

Would your opinion of the English be the same if you lived in the six counties all your life?

We've heard a lot of ráiméis about what a 'great' 6nations championship it was, but I'm afraid we've crowned champions that conceded an embarrassing 96point total in their last two fixtures. That's a stat or indeed 'narrative' that doesn't do anything for the credibility of the newly crowned champs France, or the competition they just won. It wasn't a stat that would win them a Grand Slam anyway.

Correction. Armagh beat Dublin.
Sorry about that Barney. Dubs were so far ahead at half time I thought they would win easily.
Didn't see the 2nd half.
My apologies.

Totally irrelevant. I neither hate the English or love them. We are talking about sport. Cheering for France was daft and shows that certain people store bitterness and hatred in their hearts.
It has to be remembered that atrocities were performed by all sides, IRA, Loyalists and British soldiers. Thankfully the dreadful violence ended many years ago and now there is peace.
The bottom line is that if England won we would be six nations champions. To cheer for France means you would be wishing ireland to finish second.
How stupid is that.
High time to Bury the dreaded hatchet.

In the pub I was in there were loud cheers every time England scored.
It's not that they have a love of the English.
It's simply a matter of wanting Ireland to be six nations champions. It's not rocket science.
