watching a lot of club football on rte, clubber tg4 and being at some, there is nothing wrong with the rules, its mainly the top teams managers and coaches are the problem, if u go see most of div 2/3 /4 teams in league ull see great football, its the top teams that are chocking the game with style of play [fear of loosing?] Stmunnsriver (Wexford) - Posts: 3046 - 24/11/2024 10:08:58 2580950 Link 4 |

I agree and disagree. There have been some terrible club games as well. I think club games have been better since the inter provincial experiment. It's like teams have been positively influenced in taking a more "vertical football" approach. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9513 - 24/11/2024 12:26:55 2580971 Link 0 |

Delighted kilcoo are gone, the thoughts of having to watched their negative play would put you off the club. Hoping any of Ulster Leinster or Connacht will win it out be a first for those clubs but you'd feel crokes will have the edge Sportsfanatic90 (Westmeath) - Posts: 244 - 09/12/2024 07:59:06 2582842 Link 1 |

Hoping any of Ulster Leinster or Connacht will win it out be a first for those clubs but you'd feel crokes will have the edge Careful now - dont be saying that too loud.... ;o) There is selective umbrage being taken on this point at the moment.... lol You are right though - Kilcoo can be a hard watch but they are very effective. Needless sending off cost them in the Ulster final. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4837 - 09/12/2024 08:49:48 2582848 Link 0 |

There's no rule stating 3 back… you can still have 11 strung across the backline not counting the goalkeeper… The 2pt score is absolutely ridiculous and will only lead to players having pot shots from everywhere with the majority going wide especially at club level where referees will be hung out to dry trying to monitor this…. I can see the club games especially turning into chaos with all these rules coming in….

The 2pt score could easily descend into chaos tbh. Especially in club games. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4837 - 09/12/2024 10:21:36 2582862 Link 0 |

The rule has been presented as 3 up / 3 back. The attacking team keep at least 3 players in their half own half. The defending team keeps at least 3 players in their opponents half.

As of next week club championships are restarting. All counties have different structures but due to the structure of the Kerry championships (only 8 senior clubs) - they tend to dominate at intermediate and junior all ireland. tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1706 - 06/06/2025 15:45:45 2615365 Link 0 |

Kerry's county league is starting up the middle of this month. Are other counties the same.. or do some leave it a bit later in the year.. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9513 - 05/03/2026 15:46:01 2660146 Link 0 |

Tom O'Sullivan, Conor Flannery, Mark O'Connor, Dylan Geaney and Paul Geaney all fully deserved their places in the Club Football Team of the Year. Tom O'Sullivan should get Club Footballer of the Year. He should have been Man of the Match in the final. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9513 - 05/03/2026 17:02:48 2660167 Link 0 |

Mayo leagues start April 18/19th weekend. This weekend sees the start of the divisional cups. So here in south Mayo you'll have the O'Meara Cup starting between South Mayo clubs only. North, East and Weat have their own cup comps.

Agree with everything you say with one clarification. MOTM in club final was 100% Ruadhri Fallon. But the pundits have a fixation with winning teams getting MOTM. Similarly Shane Walsh in 2022 but that was more marginal call to be fair as DC was outstanding too. The Fallon situation was absolutely clear cut and everybody who i discussed this with is of the same opinion.

Ruaidhrí Fallon was the standout player in the All-Ireland club final. He was absolutely outstanding and by a distance the best player on the pitch in my opinion. He should have won the man of the match award.
