There absolute was. Who are you trying to fool? Or did you not read the paper because I did.

Let's go through them, if you must.

Sports cover: A photo of Kobe celebrating with a headline entitled "Teen spirit".

Page 2: Column from Mark Ronaldson with a title: "Impossible to shelter our new star from hype".

Page 3: Interview with Andy Moran with a headline: "Andy on Kobe: 'He's a real talented boy'.

Page 4: James Laffey piece. Headline: 'McDonald is already in rarefied company'

Page 5: Match report from Anthony Hennigan. Headline "Cyclone Kobe strikes Clones as Moran's Mayo run riot". Eight of the first nine paragraphs are about Kobe.

Page 6: A column from Aonghus O Maicin. Headline: "Nothing quite like the irreverence of youth". Admittedly, doesn't start with Kobe focus but his name is in the first sentence. However, the second half of the article is named "Act II - The Kobe Show".

Page 7: Edwin McGreal piece. "A debut to remember for not your ordinary Mayo teenager." I wonder who that would be about.

Replying To MayoDan:  "Any hyperbole about Kobe McDonald since Sunday has come from outside Mayo i.e. RTE, Off The Ball and even the official gaa Instagram. Genuinely haven't heard one Mayo pundit even talk about him. Yet everyone says Mayo will lose the run of themselves now.

Roscommon were the team celebrating wildly after a league win last weekend, not Mayo."
Get yourself a copy of the Western People. Mustn't be Mayo people writing for it…..

Galway people reading the western people now.. kind of proves my point that everyone outside Mayo has an unhealthy obsession.

Great post. Ms Kennedy, JimB1991 and S1234 what do you think of that?

The quicker the lad gets himself off to Australia the better for himself.

Was doing the rounds on WhatsApp yesterday. Most people giggling at Mayo.

I wouldn't have even gone through it but someone tried to claim there wasn't even pages - on a Galway thread mind you. So no harm to outline the fact that it is actually true.

Absolutely priceless. Rage clicking on national media articles about Mayo would be nothing new, but actually seeking out a physical copy of a local North Mayo paper to count the column inches suggests a new level of unwellness.

Terrible stuff bothering to read a paper from another region. Nearly as obsessuve as going onto another county's HS forum.

Armagh is a bigger test for all Mayo players, young and old. I am afraid that Armagh will turn then over. Hopefully im wrong for 2 reasons. I genuinely like Mayo football and also, Galway could do with Armagh beaten

You keep going through the western people paragraph by paragraph anyway.. whatever floats your boat! I very rarely buy local papers anymore but there is always 6 or 7 pages after a league game, win or lose.

I stand by my original point that almost all the noise is coming from national sources. Paddy Andrews said on 3 different forums how Mayo have never before produced a player like him, how he's way better than Andy Moran, Cillian etc. Then said Mayo will lose the run of themselves as usual. James O'Donoghue, ciaran Whelan and Enda McGinley said something similar.

I wouldn't doubt it. Put on Ah Ref too. The auld national podcasts gone Kobe daft too. He's played less than 20 minutes of senior football and played very well. We were pleased enough with the team under Andy anyways. Call it hype or call it whatever we might as well enjoy it. If senior footballers get affected by too much hype then it's up to management to keep their heads level. Better to have a good news story to read or hear about.

Maybe but worth it as the poster has proved himself right and shown a few posters up to be spoofers.

Wouldn't ye love that. Totally ridiculous. He looked like he really enjoyed himself playing for Mayo and he will be back one day for sure. Your post just screams bitterness tbh .

There isn't six or seven pages with all the headlines about one 17-year-old though. That's the key difference.

Second paragraph is some spoof when I've shown you that a lot of the noise is internal.
