Sunday Game

Replying To supersub15:  "If RTE is still in crisis then surely the likes of the Sunday Game and other shows are in crisis as well. The problem with the Sunday Game is the best people are not in control of the show

Back to the Sunday Game, there's an old saying, "if it's not broke, don't fix it." When Michael Lyster was presenting the show, it wasn't broke, yet they tried to fix it, hence we are where we are today."
It was a far better show, it was actually worth watching.

Whats happened to the Saturday game? Its very hard to show all the game highlights on Sunday. They didnt show galway v kerry last week at all

They didn't show Galway and roscommon till the end last night and only for a couple of minutes. They didn't show Galway highlights at all the week before. It shocking how poor the coverage is

Football supporters having to sit through 40 minutes of hurling highlights is wrong. Football highlights should be first when the football league is linked to championship.

I could only endure 10 minutes of that Dublin Kerry game, to say that it was boring would be an understatement.

They should take turns. Fair is fair.
And the Football League shouldn't be linked to the Championship anyway. Its a great standalone competition as it is, probably better for all the counties taken as a whole than the Championship.

They need to do something. Waiting up til half 11 to get only 5 minutes of coverage of Galway v roscommon from Saturday night is crazy. Why don't they show highlights on a Saturday night or Sunday morning?? Tommy Tiernan isn't that popular

Not to mention the analysis is almost always flawed too. Mark Dowd was called Mark O'Rourke last week I think it was. This week they said Daire Cregg's goal brought us right back into the game, despite it putting us a point up! Best one at the moment in TG4 highlights on a Monday evening, no rubbish analysis either. Haven't seen the GAA Go highlights show yet, wonder what That's like.

Tg4 is far better product for a fraction of Rte's budget,no Experts talking complete nonsense, constantly getting names wrong...

There was never more televised Gaa than there is at the moment. Tommy Tiernan is excellent. Much more enjoyable than watching Galway throw away an 11 point lead

Much better GAA talk on the podcasts these days. RTE just paying lip service to the GAA. That said the quality of their soccer and rugby pundits is just as bad. All yes men and women who don't want to say anything controversial. RTE sports has been destroyed.

They even got county crests wrong on the graphics only a week or two ago, think they had the Mayo crest for Roscommon. Basic errors like this show how much they care about gaa coverage.

The analysis of the games is shocking bad. You would get better at the bar counter in every pub in Ireland. Time for a real change from rte

A lot to be said for the days of Dunphy, Hook, Brolly, Spillane and Loughnane. Maybe not always the best punditry but they weren't afraid to speak their mind and made for some brilliant television.

Mainly down to the fact that you don't have the same amount of characters in life anymore... the youth of today are to be seen on Instagram admiring themselves. It's not going to get any better lets be honest. Complete borefest.
