Replying To Marooned:  "Yes, I don't think 5 points will keep Galway up as Monaghan might lose all their games. So probably 2 more wins will be required. Hard to see us winning up in Donegal although with 6 points on the board already you never know when Jim will pull the handbrake up there. So Galway might need to win 2 more games from Roscommon, Monaghan and Dublin."
If Monaghan might lose all their games, that's 2 points for us, and if we drop points in Salthill to Roscommon, that will be seen as a regressive result by many, excluding Jim and S1234 of course.

If ever proof was needed, it was abundantly clear that gaining primary possession at midfield is the springboard to success at this level. Galway have been particularly weak in this regard, to their detriment, in recent years. But, I think the coin has finally dropped with management. Load the area with 6 ft. plus giants, if needs be, have the breakers and I believe we have the quality up front, to achieve a lot this year.

Michael Moore and Johnny Geraghty"
I actually think that at one point in the mid 90s Galways goalkeepers were Cathal McGinley and Pat Comer- both from Salthill, but McGinley playing with Dunderry in Meath and Comer with Carraroe.
Open to correction on that...

What's the story with Galligan? GK coach? Some other class of coach? Or MG getting a favour in for his buddy?

Can't see him adding anything more than what Scan, Drills or Graham himself would be bringing to the role?

Replying To ahsure.:  "When's the last time a county team named a goalkeeper and sub goalkeeper from same club? One of the quiz book ;-)"
Galway did it against Mayo in 2013. Lally was on the bench and Breathnach starting. Spiddal both

Great to get the draw in Tralee. We dug that one out and a good sign of the grit building in this team. I wish we'd start a game better and get out ahead. Always chasing which forces the mistakes littering our performances. 42% accuracy off shots from play, 43% from overall shots not near good enough. Still a lot to do on kickout retention too but nice to see young Eamonn McGrath given some backing and now he needs more. Deserves another couple of outings at least til we see what we have. Maher, Shane McGrath, Tierney brilliant to watch when in full flow. Need to up performance a lot for a Rossies outfit full sure they're coming to beat us.

Apparently Punxsutawney Phil didn't cast a shadow this year, and Donegal won't be pulling the handbrake in the NFL 2026 competition, and are 'going for it'.

Makes for a very interesting game on Saturday night under lights in Salthill.

Galway 3-14 (23) Kerry 2-17 (23)
Roscommon 1-20 (23) Kerry 2-18 (24)
Galway 3-12 (21) Armagh 0-20
Roscommon 3-18 (27) Armagh 0-24

Not a whole lot to chose between the sides based on those four games against strong opposition. Both have a host of new faces blooded and both have the ability to score goals at important stages in games.

Last league meeting was a 0-9 each draw, wouldn't be surprised if another draw but obviously a lot more high scoring this time.
