Fairly happy with the performance at the weekend. Wayward shooting let them down but that happens in the stadium in winter

Impressed with Niland and Rabbitte off the ball and their linkup play. For young lads it's quite developed. Neary looks good too

Once Whelan is back they have the makings of a very good forward line it would seem with options for different scenarios off the bench

Game should have been dead and buried by half time.
Leading at one stage in 1st half 1-07 v 0-03 missing scores, could easily have scored 1-14 by half time.
Over relining on C Mannion for scores and A Niland towards the end.
No enough scores or return from other forwards
Wonder what Neary, Fleming, Mcloughlin, Rabbitte and Niland combined scored from play maybe 3pts between 5 men.
Barrett absolutely destroyed or Centre Back
36yr old Harmendy cleaned out Loftus/Glennon on that side.
Cork must score atleast 2-14 from play
Galway score atleast 0-14 from frees.

Don't think either are strong enough this year to win it out. I'd be very surprised if both Kilkenny schools weren't a good bit ahead of everyone else. Raphael's on paper have a decent team though.

Agree, you couldn't blame him but we could definitely do with him for the hurlers. Need a few ball winners.

You'll cheer up, when/if the Loughrea lads start claiming spots in the squad/side.

You would think BigBasMan would be more optimistic considering Galways best and most talented 15 players are still to come back

Fair effort from UCG but not to be after a two point loss in the Fitzgibbon to the UL intercounty all star team. Thought Josh Ryan and Darragh Neary done pretty well for Galway. Aside from Adam Screeney, the backs kept the likes of Jack Leahy, Oisin O'Donoghue and Darragh McCarthy well in check. Some poor decision making towards the end for UCG when they could have won the game. UL had pretty much a full intercounty 15 even with the likes of Adam English and Cathal O'Neill not starting. They won't be beaten in the final anyway.

He went very quiet after the All-Ireland final when we were bullish in the extreme before it. Suggesting some of the Loughrea players were better than Conor Cooney for Thomas'.

Back young Niland on the frees like Tipp did with Darragh McCarthy.
Rabbitte and Niland are a breath of fresh air

Was in Kuwait on work. Overseeing a gas pipeline. Didn't even get to go to the Loughrea match. Better team won no doubt about it. Few Loughrea lads didn't show up on the day. They'll be back !

Agree with the positives but we must be sharper on and off the field to make real progress.

1. Puck Outs hit straight to the opposition after a score.
2. Half Back line taken to the cleaners by the Cork half forward line (how did Galway try fix this in real time?)
3. Frees missed
4. Subs made no impact.
5. Lack of giving the ball to the player in the best position by the same players year on year.
6. Fixing problems on the field during the game is an issue.

Don't get me wrong there are positives but the same old problems are still our downfall and will continue to be unless addressed. I feel they are very fixable?

C Mannion is well able to score frees in the Duggan Park or St Brendans Park Loughrea for A/F but Niland seems more precise striking them! Niland contributes alot less from play than C Mannion.
I'm looking forward to seeing what sort of form C Whelan is in.....we could use his muscle and b*****king inside and he'd work well with young Rabbitte.
If Rabbitte beefed up and put on another 10kg of muscle....he would be a machine nobody would stop him...man and ball everything into the net!
