I think Loughrea will sneak this one, better spread of scoring forwards from what I've seen. Admittedly only 1 slaughneil game! should be a good one imo. Not much between the 4 left but I think Loughrea have the most firepower up front Overdahill (Galway) - Posts: 82 - 12/12/2025 14:51:03 2648126 Link 4 |

Athenry pull it out of the bag yesterday, well done to them, yet another Cork team filled the togs when they saw the whites of the finishing line's eyes in Croke Park, snatching a draw from the jaws of victory Stool Pigeon (Galway) - Posts: 975 - 15/12/2025 11:36:14 2648390 Link 1 |

Great job by Athenry. Many teams would have given up. Hopefully they win the replay in January.

To be honest, I don't think it was a case of Finbarr's panicking. I thought Athenry were the better team for the last 20 minutes at least. They had far more of the play and more shots, but some poor decision making had allowed Finbarr's to widen the gap. Fair play to Athenry for keeping the head at the end and working the last shot. There was blatant foul just seconds before that which the ref hadn't given. I'd say there would have been ructions if Athenry hadn't levelled it. I thought Maher went to ground looking for that free, and probably expecting it too in the circumstances, and the referee was correct not to award it. Fantastic player Maher, at 45 years of age. An all time great was how Ursula Jacob described her before the game. Certainly herself and Higgins are the two best hurlers on that Athenry side by some distance.

It looked to me like she was sandwiched, which would always be a free, but I'd have to look back at it. Agreed completely on the two being the main driving forces. They were outstanding and relentless. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2663 - 15/12/2025 17:02:32 2648439 Link 1 |

Handy Semi Final for Loughrea this Weekend they shouldn't have too much trouble dealing with Slaughtneil! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2764 - 17/12/2025 16:02:59 2648696 Link 0 |

You're at it Mr Kat. I hope Loughrea are ready for battle. As sure as Slaughneil will bring the hurling they certainly will bring the battle too. Don't think Loughrea will have met a team this year who'll bring it into the trenches like Slaughneil will. Looking forward to it and hopefully getting a reason to head to Croke Park in January to support fellow County men. Best of luck to the town. The work has been done and very little will change the outcome between now and 1.30 Sunday, so go out and simply get the job done Sunday

Not even a scent of sarcasm in that post katser. Still bitter I see.

They had a handy lead given the trend of the game and they choked, their attacking play in the last 10 minutes was dreadful, wrong option upon wrong option, this is a team who are certainly able to overhaul a deficit but seem to have an issue with front running, would remind one of a certain type of racehorse. I didn't think she was fouled in the last play either but either way the easy call would have been to award the free in and well done to the referee for having the courage to go with his gut and not cop out for the sake of it. More of this please. Stool Pigeon (Galway) - Posts: 975 - 17/12/2025 17:47:46 2648705 Link 0 |

No doubt you'd have been trumpeting similar sentiments in 2022 when Toms came up against Dunloy. And lost. Stool Pigeon (Galway) - Posts: 975 - 17/12/2025 17:54:00 2648709 Link 1 |
