I'm not anti Vax at all. As people have said it wiped out a number of diseases, most notably polio. My kids got all their vaccines but neither myself nor my wife got the COVID jabs for a couple of reasons. 1. The testing was rushed and the standards were changed in order to get it released. 2. The restrictions imposed on people who made that choice is exceptionally authoritarian which I felt was outrageous. The whole approach made me very suspicious. I also don't approve of the flu vaccine. The data suggests it isn't effective and it's not necessary for the majority of society. That I believe is a money spinner. Get all the vaccines you want but don't force others to get them. Proven? By who? Why did Biden pardon Faucci? What could a hero like him need a pardon for? I am personally not against any vaccine as long as the relevant information is out there and that includes afterwards. Big Pharma can make all the money they want as long as it's honest money.

I feel they were for the majority safe you will always get outliers like the poor man in Waterford who had J&J one. I had that one too, purely for convenience it was one jab and had zero issues I would have doubts it was necessary for everyone to take bar the vulnerable and feel it was wrong to mandate and exclude the unvaccinated. I feel power was ceded a bit by government to TH and co who had a vested interest. jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1842 - 16/12/2025 15:47:55 2648570 Link 2 |

The most recent French one was the largest ever on Covid Findings In this cohort study including 22.7 million vaccinated individuals and 5.9 million unvaccinated individuals, vaccinated individuals had a 74% lower risk of death from severe COVID-19 and no increased risk of all-cause mortality over a median follow-up of 45 months. Given the vindictiveness of the current administration do you not think that if there was some sort of coverup around the vaccines that it would not be front and center. There has been zero attention focused on it by the administration and that is with a anti vaxer in charge. zinny (Wexford) - Posts: 2136 - 16/12/2025 18:19:35 2648582 Link 0 |

The compulsory nature of vaccines in an emergency will always be a tough one to deal with. If you think about vaccines as something that only protects you then you miss the point. Our public health systems are not equipped to deal with mass outbreaks of anything, that's not how they work and even today as we have an aging population we are seeing the original premise on which our public health systems were formed being put under massive strain, in addition to that you have the modern issues of obesity and diabetes. So there are two things - not everyone can get vaticinated and therefore those who can and don't put these people at greater risk and the second even if you are willing to take the risk that you will end up in hospital that is now putting the system under further strain because you did not want to take the vaccine. In an outbreak like covid what do you do? MMR was first stated to be used across the county in children in 1988 and in 2017 the WHO declared Ireland measles free. It took us forever to get to the 95% target. These were not the generals sitting safely behind away from the battle, these were people who were taking the same vaccine that we were asked to take. Authoritarian, there are accepted limits on free will for the sake of society, why was this any different? The biggest problem for me that came out of Covid is that technology will solve everything and that carries over into how people think about climate change and what we are doing to our environment.

I think the whole world and its uncle know why Faucci was pardoned. Did he serve under 6 presidents ?? That'd be a lot, anyway, if he did , he only fell foul of one and no prizes for guessing who that was.

100% agree, nobody should be forced to take a vaccine, it should always be optional. I got the Covid jabs, I was aware of risks, but a few people in my neighbourhood died in quick succession in the first wave of Covid, including a friend of mine who had underlying health condition which he wasn't aware of. While I get people taking exception to it being forced upon them, I weighed up the options and opted to get it. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1535 - 16/12/2025 22:15:02 2648596 Link 1 |

I agree with the first statement but is that my fault or yours? We've neglected public health in this country for decades. It's close to breaking point all the time without an outbreak of any kind. If vaccines are effective then why would somebody who put their faith in a vaccine care if I took it or not? I made other sacrifices instead of taking the vaccine. I basically locked myself away for two years. Truthfully I was terrified of COVID at the beginning. Pretty quickly it became clear that the level of risk it posed was pretty similar to seasonal flu. The environmental discussion is a whole separate can of worms that probably has more in common with the housing crisis. The solutions to these problems exist right now if there was any willingness among the ruling class to make it happen. Sadly most individuals are only interested in feathering their own beds. I made an assertion on here a few weeks ago that there are very few good people in the true sense and I got slated. I will say again people ought to open their eyes. There's always an agenda, and history tells us it's never the greater good. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4086 - 16/12/2025 22:40:01 2648597 Link 0 |

Why are we all indulging 'SouthGalway'? Any supporter of Trump has to be pitied (and called other things which I'm not allowed to say here ).

Do you know how the majority of that is spent? Do you have any insight into the levels of inefficiency or the cost model under which it operates? You can throw all the money you want at it but that won't fix the culture

I am neutral on USA politics, but I pity the lads here who have Trump stuck in their heads 24/7. Every comment, every social media posting he does is headline news to lads in Ireland. Yet, FIFA is led by the same type of leadership, and you are all looking forward to the soccer World Cup. Ireland is just as corrupt and greedy as the rest of the world, by the way. maroondiesel (Mayo) - Posts: 1252 - 17/12/2025 10:07:02 2648611 Link 1 |

Eh I don't think Fifa have the same impact on what happens in the world as the U.S government. Such a random comparison. Also being against the Israeli government is not the same as anti semitism.

Are you sick and disgusted of genocide in Gaza. I agree with re OTT trump criticism. Eg I heard on POD this week him criticised for prices for potential Ireland World Cup group fixtures which would be taking place in Mexico He also deserves no credit for FIFA about turn jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1842 - 17/12/2025 10:30:58 2648616 Link 0 |

Not too sure that many would agree with your "Trump stuck in heard 24/7", I for one, have many other issues, including my health , to worry about, but you must agree he has most of the world talking about him 24/7. We chat about other interesting things here too. FIFA and Infantino have come up . Zinny has a great post on vaccines recently, amongst other very interesting posts and posters. Yes, Trump keeps coming up, but, then, that's the nature of that particular beast. You must admit, that when it comes to controversy, he is well worth the admission fee. He is the gift that keeps on giving.

Faucci was the subject of Congressional hearings and even Intelligence reports regarding his connection to the Wuhan lab where the virus may very well have emerged, either by accident or as an artificial experiment which leaked. Whole episode was highly dubious, Recall the videos and stills from China showing people dead in the streets? I didn't get vaccine for simple reason that I would not trust the people who were forcing it on people to mind my dog. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 3876 - 17/12/2025 10:58:15 2648624 Link 1 |

Same as. Was all too rushed. I minded myself and my family. Didn't spend time with people outside that circle in enclosed spaces for a long time. There's still too many things I know that have never been adequately explained. People I know personally are still not right after taking vaccines. Vaccine status wasnt recorded for most deaths, and still arent. Overall mortality in 2020 wasnt really far out of line with 2019 or any subsequent years. Lads are still dropping like flies at English soccer matches, that just didnt happen to anywhere near the same extent pre covid.
