Strange appointment. Rumours were Jim Gavin was odds on after dropping out of the presidential race specifically to take the Caulry job?

Money down the drain. I do admire your Clubs ambition but if you don't have the players to match that ambition then its all a waste of money bringing in a "name" like that. We are entering a period of dominance from The Downs and St Lomans still well capable of a shock. Then a step down to Kinnegad and then a big step down to the rest, including Caulry.

I believe there was an initial approach made but he turned down the opportunity to interview when he heard that Ted Lasso was showing an interest in the position. Talks ongoing there still

Fair play to Kieran Martin, a modern Westmeath legend. Gave us some great days and a huge servant to the county. Will never ever forget the roasting he gave Donald Keoghan in croke Park Bluelake (Westmeath) - Posts: 330 - 21/11/2025 11:41:23 2645525 Link 1 |

Best wishes to the BEAR on his retirement. Terrific servant and probably could have been more involved over the last few seasons. Thanks for the memories ! BigSur (Westmeath) - Posts: 1216 - 21/11/2025 13:48:41 2645544 Link 0 |

Thank you bear. Class in abundance and sheer strength. Kieran loved going for the jugular. We all remember the goals he got in Croker to beat Meath and Cavan. Would the Bear be our highest goal scorer in the last decade? I seem to remember him getting plenty of goals. He scored goals against Wexford and Louth in the championship also. Longford, Monaghan and Tipperary in the league. A_Chairde (Westmeath) - Posts: 351 - 21/11/2025 19:02:59 2645584 Link 0 |

Shocking poor effort at picking the Team of the Year. How in the name of all that's holy did Ian Martin not get picked? Dean Egerton too deserves to be in it. Eanna Burke, come on lads, The Downs best defender all Championship. He marked the opposition's best inside forward out of the game against Mullingar and Kinnegad. Waste of time if you're going to pick players for their free taking abilities!! iarmhiabu (Westmeath) - Posts: 282 - 22/11/2025 11:20:54 2645608 Link 0 |

Can't give all downs in fairness kinnegad deserved a few bur yet could have burke in maybe one more. Same huelingg I don't know how they left Peter Clarke out of it Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 1095 - 22/11/2025 12:30:14 2645613 Link 0 |

I totally agree. Junior team of the year was the same. Just trying to give a few clubs one to try keep them happy. Just looking at the top scorer in games and putting them in the team.

Not sure if the selection committee were at any games at all. Surely there should be at least three players on team of the year from each of Tang, Athlone, Garrycastle, Tubberclaire and Caulry . It's an easy decision really.

I do think should have 8 not 6 or maybe 9 but hurling same or worse how some of players got in ahead of others was ridiculous
