The news that that Tyrone's best forward Joel Kerr is to miss the All-Ireland final after taking up a professional contract with Premier League club West Ham this week might be why he's thinking that. The London club's Academy has denied him permission to face Kerry in Sunday's decider at Newbridge due to his contractual agreement.

I was expecting Tyrone to win a competitive final by 2 or 3 points but that news certainly swings things in Kerry's favour.

Mark Dowd is the favourite to get the Roscommon job should the county board decide to go in house.

Oisin McConville had cited travel reasons as to one of his reasons for stepping down from Wicklow. The commute to Roscommon/Athlone would be equally as far. Hard to see how Mark McHugh can make a comeback given his previous comments on the players attitude to hard physical training.

Mark Dowd would be a good call, it would also show ambition from cb if they could get a similar former player to Hughes(i.e a former dublin player who has strong experience in what it takes to reach peak levels in terms of s+c and would have the respect of the players. i fail to believe that players had this attitude but then again we have a small pick to choose from and players know this and wouldn't be dropped from panel.

Not the answer. The Senior football team need a much more experienced manager than the above mentioned.

County title success with Strokestown,Ballaghaderreen. Connacht success with the U21s. Coach on the Minor All Ireland winning team and coach with the county seniors 2010,2019 that won Connacht titles. Might not be the answer but when it comes to experienced he's had more than most.

Terrible decision by West Ham not to allow young Kerr to play one more match in the soccer off- season for Tyrone in the All Ireland minor final. Hopefully they come to their senses and the decision might be reversed. If so, I would expect Tyrone to win by 4 or 5 points as he is a classy, talented and speedy footballer.

Hopefully the Dermot Earley centre of excellence will get going shortly to help all Roscommon teams with their preparation. (S&C, Training pitches etc).
Serious effort and success in Tyrone with their underage teams recently.

From watching Hell for Leather, one of the most important assets to make serious progress is the mindset and culture a manager instills. Without that it doesn't matter what money is thrown at a county team. Can Roscommon get a manager who gets those lads to run through walls and give them serious belief?

Based on mayo did everything right in that semi and still kerry found a way to win
Mayo improved throughout the campaign where as us through injuries and form of some of the young lads went back from the Connacht success
Thought kerry mayo was of a higher standard to our semi
We had 2 malfunctions in our semi kickouts cost us 2-02 and freetaking which had been poor in our quarter final as well
I don't think kerry will be as bad or even close to us at them 2 requirements
I thought kerry would win before kerr news if I'm being truthful kerr news doubles down that opinion

Would such a new manager dump "the elder statesmen" as being too set in their ways, too many morale-sapping defeats, settling down with family, careers to look after etc.?
Then start with a younger panel with fewer outside distractions and try and mould them into run through brick walls type players?

I think you might be falling into the trap in thinking because it was high scoring game it was then a higher standard. There was a lot less defending in the Kerry v Mayo game and had Mayo had tried to tighten things up defensively they would have won. The strength of Tyrone I thought was really seen when they held Cavan to 0-1 in the 2nd half of the Ulster final and that was a Cavan team that pushed Kerry all the way. As already pointed out they really showed their cuteness and street smarts for the 2nd half of the Roscommon game also.

Now Kerry tomorrow might come with a different approach when doing their video work on Tyrone the last two weeks as if they defend like they did against Mayo in this All Ireland final they won't win. If we had odds (none with U17 grade) I can imagine the bookies and their punters would have Tyrone to win by 2 points would be the expectation but Kerr out is a huge boost to Kerry it' would be like Kerry without Gearoid White,
