This was posted as a new thread but as the subject matter is similar it has been incorporated here. worple A plea to Connacht counties. Develop our own brand of gaelic football.Drop this prissy,namby-pamby basketball thing.It's not working for us.It doesn't suit our genes.It was foisted on us in the mid 70s by the two fancy counties for their own ends and they've been laughing at us ever since. If we are the "men of the West",we should play like men of the West.Good old fashioned blood and thunder,up 'n at 'em catch and kick.First time clearance from defence.Bombard the fullback from every angle and distance.That kind of stuff. At least then ,if we lose,we lose on our terms. And if any Connacht team brings Sam across,I'll be straight down to join the celebrations. Yeah whats the point in fans showing emotion at all why should they celebrating anything at all. Sounds like we all should be stuck in the local lamenting the 80s. Sad to see? thats total nonsense! Galway and Roscommon both with young developing teams won their first provincial titles since 2008 and 2010 and the celebrated like it should have been celebrated. Monaghan did likewise when they won Ulster in 2013 and Donegal 2011 can't even imagine the celebations to had if Kerry or Dublin were to be toppled in Leinster and Munster. Maybe if Mayo go 6 or 7 years without winning the Nestor cup they might celebrate it also as at the end of the day it a cup won and medal in the back pocket. Mayo can only achieve that this summer by winning Sam. For the record two years of an expensive management team of McEntee,Buckley and Rochford no medal won for the players yet that got rid of the last management team not even FBD or NFL medal. Nonsense really, even Kerry fans invade the pitch after winning Munster, im sure the dubs would do the same if allowed in Leinster.
