Replying To Tadhg2020:  "Thats a huge upset. Kerry were outplayed though and Derry great value for their win in what was a good game of hurling. Kerry are in the Ring for another year. Derry played some very good hurling. 3-24 wins most games of hurling congrats to the winners."
2nd time they have beaten Kerry this year so not that huge of upset. Well done Derry.

Hugely disappointing..no disrespect to derry but the overall standard in the mcdonagh and ring cups is going backwards instead of improving, that just my opinion

Kerry were already in the finsl though and , I think, Derry needed to get something to qualify. I didnt see the team but kerry would probably have rotated a bit. Either way its a great result for Derry and a terrible one for Kerry.

Replying To Tadhg2020:  "Really? Thats a big bonus. Hopefully they can get Cosgrove, Glynn and a few more to commit next year. There is the makings of a good team. They need a bit of physicality though to survive at this level. They needed this break."
Yes really. We finished bottom of the table without a win more often than not that's relegation. Tyrone meanwhile topped their group winning every it's not a fair system.

I didnt say it was fair. I said that this young Roscommon team just caught a break.

Can someone explain why this is? Why are New York not promoted to CR Cup for next year? They won LM Cup last year and were promoted to NR Cup so why not now up to CR Cup?

Pardon? Why are you saying they are not promoted?!

Tier 2 should be something of a reflection of Tier 1, with the obvious exception of not having provincial groups. A more vibrant Tier 2 would have 2 groups of 5. Possibly quarter finals between 2nd v 3rd and semi finals of 1st v QF winners. Sure it might be a bit of a step up for Wicklow and Donegal but sure look championship isn't supposed to be easy.

Sorry. I get it now. I misunderstood earlier post saying Roscommon now survive in CR because NY won NR. It seems whatever competition they are in NY are going to be super-numeroury to preserve required numbers in the group stage. It seems ridiculous to me that NY could in theory go all the wag to Liam McCarthy by just coming in at semi final stage on the basis they travel here for one week every year. It's a very unfair situation.

By same token surely Tyrone as beaten NR finalists should take Roscommon's place in CR. That seem faker to me.

You are probably right on both counts. Roscommon benefit though snd they need to take advantage of that lucky break next season. If they stick together and get 2 or 3 of the older lads back I think they can.
