Replying To Saynothing:  "This hooter rule to end a half of football is killing the game. Down had the ball and Donegal didn't care when they were playing about with it outside the 40 Mt arc. At least keeping the game alive until the ball goes dead there is something to play for. Stupid rule."
So the hooter is killing the game? Talk about hyperbole.....

Don't feel so bad losing to a division 3 team now! Thanks for softening the blow Donegal!

What a magnificent performance from Down. Probably our best performance since Kerry in 2010. Commiserations to Donegal brilliant team.

There were signs last year that the old Down magic was returning and today was an absolutely magical performance. A similar performance will be needed to beat Armagh. If we miss out on an All Ireland place after that performance it will be very disappointing.

So much for Donegal and the All Ireland. Some win for Down, great to see.

The way things are going, ye should enter it yourselves.

The bowl of league qualifiers is heating up. Tyrone, Meath and Donegal.
Last year Dublin beat Galway, Cavan beat Mayo, Monaghan beat Louth and Tyrone beat Donegal. Sides recovering from provincial knockout won round 1 games away to provincial finalists.

Congrats, a brilliant performance, unfortunately for us, it was reminiscent of the 1991 Ulster final. Go on and win Ulster now.

Well said. It could be an omen for Donegal we beat Tyrone in the first round in Ulster after a replay in 2008 and yet then they ended up winning the All Ireland. Donegal have been magnificent last few years best of luck for the rest of the year.

Today could turn out to be a blessing in disguise. Donegal looked a tired team today. A break will do them no harm at all...

No but hard to see how an All Ireland will be coming to Donegal.

Another reason the 'lengthy rest' can be beneficial over those teams, 'successful in their Prov'. This is inherently wrong. A steady slate of games for all teams, in-Prov or outside, seems better.
