Do people agree with boycotting Allianz? They insure absolutely everything for the GAA. Don't know what difference it will make, then again though if you look at what the Dunnes Stores workers achieved by their boycott of South African goods in the 80's then maybe it will achieve something I don't know. We all recognize the injustice perpetuated on them for over 80 years. However making empty gestures towards multi nationals will have no effect whatsoever on their plight, and while it may us feel better about ourselves and our committment to justice, it will do nothing whatever for the people in Gaza and The West bank. But we need to keep politics out of the gaa . Besides what difference do they think ut will make ? People will still get Allianz insurance and it wont stop Israel. So we should only consider actions that will have a measurable positive effect by your reasoning. However all of these gestures of support can incrementally turn the tide, anyone that is suffering welcomes gestures of support. That is why they are welcomed by the spokespersons of the oppressed. By this silly logic maybe we should keep quiet when people are bereaved etc sure offering condolences is not going to change their situation. If the players are against the continued sponsorship deal with Allianz they are correct to demonstrate. 100% agree with the boycott. Those who think politics has no place in sport will have to ignore a tsunami of historical examples to this day in order to convince themselves of that position. Life is deeply political and sport is a big part of our lives and a big vehicle for social change. As with the Dunnes Stores women cited by someone above, these small gestures do matter. Each of us has to make a choice about where we want our funds to go and proximity to a genocide that we want those companies to have! So fair play to Dublin. May others follow. Politics has always been part of sport and indeed the gaa..Its not too long ago certain people were not allowed play gaa.In rugby we had the South African ban and of course black power at the olympics. I have no problem with the idea of the stance but ehere does it stop and are some players being forced against their will. I men if players have bouse or car insurance with allianz it makes a joke of it.Why not boycott the league as its the "Allianz league".Also both google and microsoft had ties also to iIsrael.Are the players not going to use google? It's pure grandstanding as mentioned above. I guarantee you posters that have private pensions or investment funds would have links with Israeli companies. Haven't Allianz publicly come out and denounced the genocide in Gaza too. I find we are completely hypocritical about the whole thing. Our government cut back on hospital care for the poor Gaza children recently and you don't see us hopping over to the red cross to volunteer our services. The GAA ethics committee also found no cause for getting rid of them. Allianz do a lot for the GAA with reasonable quotes and sponsor events for children around the country to play in Croker every year. It's easy forgotten when a few people want to play greta thunberg though. Queue the giving out. I couldn't care less. You'd be better off fundraising for Doctors Without Borders or have a look at the occupied territories act which is a mess at the moment and needs implementation asap with amendments for services. Dublin Players or any other players shouldn't have the right to tell a sponsor what they can or can't do with there owen company. If players think anyone in Israel knows or even cares about them they very much mistaken. What's going on over there is nothing to do with our gaa games. If these players or anyone else that is so concerned should forget the protests and head over there to help out!!!. See how many will do that. Dunnes strikers weren't respected in Ireland for what they were doing at the time but word got to SA and it meant a lot. I got a tour of Robben island many moons ago and when I said I was from Ireland the guide spoke about the grapefruit ladies.
