Replying To tearintom: "To be fair i was listening to Tom Parsons talking about it. He said he had some questions going i he wanted answered but that all the questions he had were actually answered by Tom Ryan when he spoke about it and to be fair to those delegates maybe they felt the same upon hearing it bejng spoken about. Simply put one question was where does it sit for example and it was explained because this is a commercial matter Congress isnt the place its discussed but the option doesn't die, its still a live issue with coiste banisti where it will be debated.
Its not just this motion that has had this approach, in the past the same approach has happened with certain motions, not for Congress but discussed elsewhere. It seems it was addressed to the satisfaction of everyone there rather than pushed aside, so no questions arose
Of course that doesnt fit the narrative for those who assaulted and trespassed on Saturday night.
And coincidentally he also mentioned that they GPA members were asked about this situation in rhe summer and when players were polled there was no mandate from the players for a protest on the Allianz issue en masse.
Maybe people need to take a step back here and realise there isnt this huge majority pushing for this and respect that fact."
I don't take issue with nearly all you say. But, isn't there always a but, when you say "it seems it was addressed to the satisfaction etc" well then I say it still seems odd to me that not one of the counties that went to the trouble of proposing a motion thought it might be appropriate and transparent to just state that they are happy with how the issue is or is not proceeding. Silence adds to conjecture and then all we can say is "it seems" they are happy but maybe not.

Replying To BarneyGrant: "Good point regarding the players. Which is the trouble when anyone claims to be speaking on behalf of an entire group engaged in something that has nothing to do with the their purpose - in this case sport. Same with the international soccer team.
Much was made of David Hickey getting 16 former Dublin footballers to sign a letter. That's about 0.5% of players who have played football for Dublin since 1970s!
This has nothing to do with the issue. I think Israel have behaved horrifically in Palestine and that current war is unjustified and will edge us closer to some very dark times indeed.
Let us enjoy our sport in the meantime and not be obsessed with meaningless gestures."
Well it is a good point regarding the players if it is correct. However I can find no evidence of this survey or poll of players online or directly from players. The last gpa survey/poll of players published in October has no question relating to allianz or other sponsors.
