Replying To Viking66:  "Our recent record.

We have lads who are good enough, skill and S and C wise, but keep getting injured. We have other lads who are good enough but won't commit and/or are in Oz. We have lads who might get good enough but aren't there yet.
But right now Countyman is right, we don't have enough lads right now who are skilful enough and big enough in large enough numbers to win an AI."
What you're describing isn't the same as "the hurlers aren't there". I'd argue we have loads of skilful hurlers that need time to adapt to the physicality of senior inter county.

I'm not writing any of them off as a lost cause which is the tone of the previous comment.

Our record is being great at finishing third in Leinster. This isn't acceptable, but it doesn't suggest we've no hurlers either.

I'd have expected you to know better.

U15As are in the Arrabawn Shield along with Clare, Cork and Limerick. Up against it. Only missed out narrowly on a Cup semifinal, top 4 place, lost to Galway by a last minute point.

Did you watch Wex play over the last 8 months?

Any word on our senior back room team? I see Eddie Brennan and Niall Corcoran have been added to the Kk background team

Is this a straight knock out competition or did they have other matches before the Galway match?

Depends what your aspirations are. But right now at this point in time we don't have enough hurlers who are skilful enough or physically developed enough to win an AI, bearing in mind lads will lose form or get injured and the season is fairly condensed.
If we stay injury free, we could win Leinster.
After that anything could happen, if we remain injury free.
It would be nice to have a panel of 26-30 lads who were all good enough, so when we had a few injuries we wouldn't be weakened overall as a team.
I just don't think we have right now either.

It's knockout at this stage. The lads were beating Cork As by 2-15 to 6 points last I heard. Around 15 minutes to go though......

U14s beaten by a point in Cup SF in Kilkenny. Kilkenny got a last second square ball goal to win it after the ref played 4 and a half minutes of injury time.......

He is not the only one, everyone I speak to would say the same thing. There are no quick fixes to getting back to the top.

U15As beat Cork's other team in the Arrabawn Shield final. So 5th best team at that age in the country.

U16As won their 3rd/4th playoff in the Eugene Carey, also against Corks u16As. So 3rd best u16 side in Ireland.

U14s beat Galway 4-16 to 4 points in the 3rd/4th playoff in Kilkenny, after losing that controversial SF to Kilkenny. All in all a good end to the year, think the only county we didn't beat at u14 this year was Kilkenny.

Ah I'm only going on secondhand info tbh Bon, we had our club fun day so I couldn't make it up. I was talking to a few lads from down here who were there though. And even a friend from Kilkenny reckoned he was poor.

Bottom line is we need a bigger pool of better players to pick from.

You get the feeling that we're not miles away and yet at the same time, we're a long way away. Ability levels aren't that far off but we just haven't made a breakthrough and for that reason, a mental block has developed and it's just kept on growing and growing, success at under-age level isn't the be all and end all, the most important thing is to produce players but we might need to win something at underage level to just break the mental block

Anyone know who won the masters hurling all ireland final between Wexford and Tipperary?
No result or report from Wexford Gaa.
Can't find any account in the Sunday papers either.
It is an all ireland final so surely it deserves some sort of mention.
I suppose it's regarded as nothing more than an exhibition game of no importance.
The players I'm sure take it seriously or do they see it as a game to stroll around and have a laugh.0

Were Dublin in any of these competitions Viking?
Good results in general but the Wexford u16s were badly beaten by Tipp?
3rd best, etc implies that there are two better. Need to be the best. Laois and Offaly were in an A final from the looks of it.
