Replying To Doylerwex: "Tipp won fairly well. 2-31 to 1-25 I think. Tipp had a pretty strong team out. We had chinner and Cian Byrne playing but experimental otherwise." What was our team Doylerwex? Sounds like it was a good game to get for our lads

Replying To Magpie2: "According to the Wexford fixtures section on their Website tody they have our game down against Dublin to be played in Parnell Park. Have they changed the venue from Croke park ? Or is it an error by Wexford Gaa and the game will in fact be played before the Dublin Kerry match in headquarters? Anybody know?" Its in HQ before Dublin Kerry.

Tickets are advertised as double header in Croker

It's definitely in Croke Park

Replying To Viking66: "I wouldn't be critical of any lad who doesn't want to commit, because it is a huge commitment, but what I have said to some talented lads faces, not just at county level but at club level too, is that if you spend most of your 20s partying and/or travelling, you might have the feeling when you get older that you regret wasting your talent, or maybe not wasting it altogether but regret seeing how deep the rabbit hole goes....." Too true viking.

GAA.ie have it in Croke Park before the Dublin V Kerry game .. It will be a good occasion but it is a pity that Croke Park will only be partially full .. It's nights like this that we needed the Bertie Bowl .. a 40k stadium ..

Id say that's an error on the website. Game is listed elsewhere for Croke Park.

Replying To Afinestick96: "What was our team Doylerwex? Sounds like it was a good game to get for our lads" I don't know the full team but I know Cillian Byrne got a run out which is great.
It was a good game to get alright. I wasn't at it now but was talking to one of the players and he was pleased with the defensive performance. I know they conceded 31 points but tipp were goal hungry and apparently we coped well with that.

Dublin fans are poor enough for there hurling team. We are not much better come to think about it. The crowd will flood in for the football after the hurling. Dublin v Kerry is always a major attraction. If we manage to win, we won't be too worried about the low attendance.

Replying To StoreysTash: "Its concerning but so too is the attitude of Wexford supporters. Every time a match is played in Thurles people complain and a tiny few Wexford people go to the effort of going. Excuses, excuses, excuses. They will complain about Saturday week at 5pm in Croke Park. "Too early, too late, wrong place, too much else on, and so on". Yet they expect a young player to give up his social life and drive to Wexford from college or work 3-4 times a week from October when they themselves won't even drive to Dublin to a match one evening? And then if Wexford get to a Leinster Final every tom dick and harry in the county will go "we are great supporters" and Liam Griffin will be on the radio talking about pikes and fighting tradition. This young team needs big support now more than ever, Saturday week is a big big game for this team. If Wexford people want players to commit they need to show them "we are 100% behind you". A big cheer for a goal would be a huge boost for this team because Dublin will have a big support and Wexford need to match it and be there for the team. A hurler in Munster is treated like a rock star, in Wexford they are treated like an after thought. This is part of the reason why players won't commit. Saturday week is likely going to be the difference between promotion to 1A and 3 of the top teams in the country coming to Wexford Park next year or an away trip to Antrim and a home game v Down. Make up your mind which you want and think what you can do to help." Yes, this young Wexford team need the support but I don't believe they will get it. The old "5pm on a Saturday in Croke Park" line I've already heard this week twice in work.
But what about the player driving back to Dublin at 10pm on a Tuesday night after sweating the balls off himself running around the COE. Is the journey for you harder than for him? You do it once, he does it 2-3-4 times a week.
It can't be easy for players to commit so much time and the supporters have turned their back. I'm not saying I am innocent here as I don't do league matches but I do go to a lot of their championship matches to bring my children AND if there is a lot at stake I will try to get to them.
I will do my bit by bringing a car full of them on Saturday week. Suits with visiting family and as always I won't begrudge you a victory if you get it, but I think we are a bit further down the road so I will be disappointed if we don't get the win.
@Viking I meant to say, the dual players I was on about were Dublin dual players. We can't get them to commit to hurling because it just lacks the hype of the football.
This was my point though, Wexford County Board need to make the game cool again. Social Media is the number 1 way to get to young people. Fun videos, crossbar challenges, player profiles, an inter county hurlers week, and so on. The game is crying out for publicity in Leinster and its just not there and look at the league games, we're all a mile off Munster. We need to give the game a massive push in the province as a whole, not just Wexford.

Personally Im not on FB, X, or Insta but is that what the Munster counties are doing? Or are their clubs just organising more tournaments, doing more with their local schools, etc?
