It's always about the Knockouts, the rest is only Glorified League and Practice matches. Hopefully our Fullback is ok,a fine big strapping young lad. Downey is a wonderful player too.

Yes and its one thing to do it on one day, we need to do it every day. This minor team look good but no point saying we beat Kilkenny in the group.
We need to beat Galway and go on and win the final. Whether or not there are good hurlers on the team is only one part. We need to win trophies to get back on track.
But we need people to come out and support our teams. I don't know when or where Leinster semi final is on but go and support the team. I know a cousin of one of the players who scored an important score on Saturday and he said he told him the roar from the stand lifted the whole team.
Never underestimate what support can do for a team. Offaly beat us in an u20 final because they outnumbered us 10-to-1.
We can't always wait for Croke Park. You can't get to the top of the mountain before starting to climb. Get out and support these teams.
Best of luck to the u20's today.

Good win for the celtic challenge team v Lkmerick. Is the celtic challenge basically extended panels?

Also u20s out today, best of luck lads.

The atmosphere in the stand was excellent! When I watched it back on clubber yesterday I was shocked so few people were actually in the stand! Fair play to everyone that was there for being so vocal!

Yes, they are all part of the one panel.

They are completely separate in Limerick.

Just out of interest Tahg how many do you have on each panel then?

U20s very wasteful in the first half, shot ten wides in all and messed up a few goal chances, the two goals were a big tonic as we'll have to play against the wind in the second half

Struggled with their sweeper initially although did a good job at hitting the corners as the half went on, full-forward line have done a good job of getting out in front but just haven't been able to convert enough of our chances into scores

Easy win for the U20s in the end, the two goals in quick succession towards the end of the first half probably broke Laois's spirit (Although thought they were tame enough for most of the game)

O'Brien's some bit of stuff, always seems to go with the hand even for low balls where pretty much everyone else would go with the hurl, good playmaker too and isn't too selfish, has a great work ethic defensively, ended up hooking someone at the half-way-line having chased him from the 21-yard line, the one thing he isn't though is a freetaker, that's something we'll need to address in the SFs as whoever we play will be a lot better than Laois

Jack Nolan also very good, think he might have got six points from play, thought Ciarán Doyle was terrific before he went off injured, quiet enough day for Ryan Doran, ball just didn't seem to stick for him for whatever reason, Podge Doyle started off quiet and wasn't really in the game but finished the game off well, Carley was quiet enough too compared to his performances in the group stages

Was an easy enough win in the end. In fairness to the lads they upped their concentration and workrate after the 1st quarter or so. The real championship starts now, not sure who they are playing next, but it will be Galway or Dublin.

Won with ease in the end against a very limited Laois side. Sean O'brien was outstanding and our backs will never have it so easy again.
Bigger fish to fry and even winning by a big score they will need to sort out their point shooting from distance. Far too many missed chances.
Good to get a comfortable victory and it would be great if we reached a leinster final once again.

Normally 35 each.

Normally 35 each. They are completely separate trial processes too albeit the celric one happens after the minor one but at same time(roughly) as minor football one.

Do you have dual players at minor?

A good weekend for Wexford hurling. Wins against kk in minor, Limerick in celtic challenge and under 20 against Laois. We have some good underage talent at the moment. Get out and support all these teams the next day because they deserve it and tough test coming up.

No, not at any age group. Not allowed by hurling. Not allowed at Celtic Challenge level either.

Just curious, as I'm always curious how they work things in other counties.

Our minor hurling squad has about 43 or 44 players - that's the actual championship squad plus Celtic Challenge squad combined.

Probably the top 20 or so would expect to see action in the championship. The ones ranked from about 21 down would play in the Celtic Challenge.

If Limerick have two separate squads of about 35 each - what do the ones ranked from about 21 or 22 downwards in the "proper" championship squad do? Would they not actually be better off in the Celtic Challenge squad?

Job done by the underage teams. Minors and 20s were ruthless and efficient in putting away poor Laois teams.
But now the challenge begins.
I would read nothing in to Celtic Challenge being honest, the likelihood of getting an Inter county hurler is next to zero. It would make no sense to not use the extended panel, they get no game time otherwise.
