Replying To Newyorkkat:  "One umpire did his job the other one did a job he was not supposed to do. That is my point."
Whoever was responsible for the scoreboard should have kept his eyes on the flags for each score, a simple task really.

Replying To Canuck:  "This umpire had zero excuse for touching that ball. What does he think his functions are ? Back up goalie ? The game could not go on without that ball ? A brain **** for sure or a lack of knowledge to be there in the first place. His action was the trigger for the error of others that followed."
In what way was his action the trigger?

I'm reading all of this and I cant help wonder do a lot of people live in the real world.

1. Referees are in very short supply - both at club and intercounty level. Umpires are even shorter supply. The theory that effectively professional teams of paid officials should be employed just isn't going to happen and even if it did happen the idea that it would reduce the level of mistakes/errors significantly is rubbish.
2. in theory additional technology may assist - for example the strike on the tipp player on sunday. but being honest it took me a few looks at the slomo to see exactly whose hurl hit him. and VAR hasn't exactly been a resounding success in soccer. and i dont think we want regular delays for VAR reviews in GAA

It seems to me that some people just want a reason to give out and point the finger where someone makes a mistake. (And by the way the mistake on the wrong score didn't come from the officials last Sunday) But I dont see any of those same people coming up with realistic alternatives or solutions. If for example 'Professional umpires /officials were retained by the GAA at whatever costs this would ultimately lead to an increase in ticket prices maybe..
Listen to the complaints when that happens.

These people have a problem for every solution!

I do believe the red had the wrong score also.

Apparently ex ref Gavin in the Examiner on Monday stated categorically that this was the case.

I do think Cork are way too fancied for the final. Is their body of work over the course of the championship THAT impressive? I dont think it is. Drew with Clare (who were way off it this year) and could easily have lost that game in Ennis. Yes they had a man sent off, but as Tipp showed against KK and Dublin against Limerick, it doesn't mean you automatically lose. Plus they were well ahead (7,8 or even 9 pts?)

They were obviously beat out the gate against Limerick.

They beat Waterford at home but they werent particulary impressive.

The Tipp game im not sure what to make of. Cork were good but obviously had an extra man the entire game. And that was probably the game where I thought this Tipp team really have something about them. They really stuck at it and never gave up despite the margin, played lots of good hurling and worked like dogs.

The Munster final was obviously the best of Cork this year. It was a perfect storm for them coming in as underdogs on the back of a hiding to nothing. And with how Limericks form has panned out from that game onwards, how impressive was it?

The Dublin game...... they would have better A vs B games at training. The same Dublin team who Galway were cruising against with 5 mins to go and 10 points up. And we all know full and well how bad Galway have been this year.

Relax a little bit. Umpire did nothing wrong. Why is he in the firing line? Other people erred significantly but blaming an innocent party is simply wrong. Go for a walk or watch some relaxing tv if you're that agitated.
