All of Paul Conroys scores in the All Ireland final were outside the 40. An asset to have a.player capable of taking those shots with the new rules

Would it be possible to gather up 10/15k fools to pay in and watch this nonsense and get frozen and wet as well…. At least with the tv you'd be able to switch over to something else…!

Replying To gunman:  "Connolly probably prefered to take a shot from far out because there was more room and less pressure on him and he had plenty of power.A lot of good skilled players might not have that range. How many points did the likes of Peter Canavan,Bernard Brogan and many more brilliant players score from outside 40M."
Actually quite a lot from out in the corners
The modern game would have Canavan and brogan tracking corner backs back to their own D and surrounded by sweepers when back in position.

Reward the players who can kick long range points and score goals - any old ****** can kick the ball over on his good foot from the top if the D.

100%. Like a Steph Curry in Basketball. Would be great to see a player, with game nearly over, with a handy one pointer to draw a game get it back to a player outside two point range and see the winner sail over the bar.

Watching Louth club games I've seen numerous I lads who are well able to kick the ball over the bar from 40/45+ yards out , get in scoring positions and recycle the ball as they are outside what their manager/coach told them is the 'scoring zone'. 9/10 they end up losing the ball anyway

Sooner these clowns in charge cop on and let lads play actual football the better

Was at a minor game the other night and one teams manager was doing what I said above. The other teams manager was screaming at anybody inside the 50 who had a chance to shoot to have a go.
Thankfully the lad wanting his team to shoot won in the end even though they kicked a lot more wides

Is it not self policing! A team will draw the refs attention if players are straying back or forward."
Only captain allowed speak to ref under new rules

I see the refs will be miked for games at weekend so that will help with rules..however a big leveller could be the weather forecast which is given,a kick from the arc might be impossible..

Which makes a mockery of whinge man from Cavan crying about passing the ball backwards. Nothing wrong with playing the ball backwards if you are building your way to a shooting position. Soccer do it and people flock over the water to watch them.

Hardly makes a mockery. They would be passing it back it looking to create a shot outside the 40.. not going back 50 yards endless recyling which ye like to in Tyrone.

……. And if he misses , the guy who turned down the handy one pointer to level the game would look a complete fool… They should simply leave the scoring system alone… Make no mistake about it the game will be finished if this particular rule is introduced… With this 'tap and go' free and lads playing the ball back to shoot from outside a certain distance it's getting more and more like rugby all the time… STOP tampering with the game for heaven's sake…! The forward mark has been a disaster and completely slowed the game down and should be ditched completely….. Imagine getting a free kick for catching a ball… I thought that's what all forwards were capable of doing at the supposed 'elite level'…!

Thought there was an admission fee but even free in won't interest too many I'd say….

That's part of the problem, too many people trying to copy aspects of inferior sports like soccer and rugby into our games. The sight of 29-30 players inside the 45 meter line is a blight on our games and that's according to our own Peter Canavan.

Maybe the problem is not so much the state of football, as it is the state of Leinster football.

Watching this I'm not sure what I think,it's very tame and really only training session..I like the tap and go..looks like Connaught have a lot done and that Leinster came together today..

Poor first game. Too one sided. Not sure if the new rules made it a poor game. Leinster seemed to only have a go for the last 10 minutes, didn't look too interested. Not one bit of flaking in it either. Can't imagine too many watching on TG4 have any regrets about missing it. Hopefully we'll get a better game of ball in the second match.

That one sided game wasn't a great advert for the new rules and I would expect Ulster to win by a bit to spare in the 2nd game. Trying to change to much at once is my view at the moment and really don't see the need of 4 points for a goal and 2 pointers.

First game review of rules:
1 v 1, the kick out rule seems good, passing to goalkeeper rules and 3 v 3 seem good.
Scoring system is debatable. Might be warranted but maybe down the road depending on the other rules bedding in and solving problems first.
Solo and go definitely speeded up attacking play.
The advanced mark wasn't seen in the first game. A Leinster player messed up a good opportunity to showcase that one.
