I think Langan will be put at Midfield on all star team and McFadden will miss out. Mc Cole is not a certainty because he has to mark Clifford. Keep him to something respectable he gets the all star, if Clifford runs riot that All star is in jeopardy. JimB1991 (Donegal) - Posts: 111 - 14/07/2025 16:37:36 2625671 Link 0 |
Are you not that Clare "wan" from the Mayo private forum. You're not from Donegal that is for sure. I've seen the vitriol that you've posted on the Mayo site about us and by the way our managers name is Mr McGuinness to you and not McGuiness as you call him. Get on your bike, your opinions aren't wanted here.

Interesting times ahead. The final will be billed as Murphy v Clifford and player of the year is being priced by bookies as such but for me Donegals best player this season has been Langan and if Donegal are to win in two weeks, he's gonna need to light it up again and if he does, he should get POTY. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 404 - 14/07/2025 16:55:01 2625682 Link 0 |
I think you're right but Murphy coming back after 2 years out. Almost 36 and being the second highest scorer this season is unbelievable and if we win he's definitely going to get it. He's not playing the same way as before everything went through him but that's not the case now because we have so many good runners. But he could very well end up with 50+ points and it seems he's scoring more from play then even back when he was in his prime. Hope he's lifting Sam in 2 weeks!

I seen someone mention mchugh for an all star. I'm not so sure he will get one, very quiet year from him. The rest I can all agree on. I think Ciarán Thompson deserves one for sure. He's been brilliant and has added more scoring to his game. Conor OD will be a dark horse for one too. Think he has 3-15 from championship all from play. eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 197 - 14/07/2025 20:07:17 2625721 Link 0 |
Sean Raffery Meath guaranteed one. CorkAllIrelandChampions2016 (Cork) - Posts: 10 - 14/07/2025 21:52:09 2625733 Link 1 |
Why? McCole is better than him. Gallen got 1-3 off him yesterday. Full forward line in total got 2-14 (including McBrearty as sub)

When you include the League, certainly Langan has been our best player. He has been really consistent, and has lit up a couple of games when required. So I think POTY could come down to the midfield battle, if Donegal win, Langan is in with a good shout, if Kerry win then Joe O'Connor will certainly be in the shake up.

Actually don't think Louth will get one, they didn't perform all year outside of Leinster final , stayed up on last day in division 2 and blessed not to be in tailteann cup after beating Kildare by a point. They got an all star last year too so might be the excuse given Kerry or Donegal 7/5 split . Meath , Tyrone 1 each maybe Monaghon the other 1 as league champions and quarter finals dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 860 - 15/07/2025 00:31:39 2625766 Link 0 |
Have you every read her posts? She alleged today on the Donegal thread, that Mayo threw the Cavan game.

Wouldn't agree. Rafferty better one on one, attacks ball harder and drives forward with power and pace. OK Gallen scored heavily in 2nd half but Meath were overrun in 2nd half and McCole rarely tested without cover. I still think McCole may get an all-star but let's see how he does on Clifford. At moment Roarty, Rafferty and McCole will be likely back 3 but Rafferty has to be nailed on. Foley could get in if Kerry win final while Mogan may be a wing back.

He may be on paper, though I don't agree. But All Stars are based on the big performances. McCole has been delivering game on game , and kept Morris very quiet. https://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/gaa/arid-41669099.html Granted the Clifford factor in the final may still be one reason McCole doesn't. And I'm sure Rafferty will deserve one in the future. Just don't see why he deserves one ahead of McCole this year. Al_Maguire (Donegal) - Posts: 317 - 15/07/2025 13:59:47 2625839 Link 1 |
I think from Meath point of view on Morris, it was his skill execution rather than pressure from McCole that resulted in a below par performance. He showed have made the pass to Costello for a goal chance after a barnstorming run. Had another good run in 2nd half and blazed wide and also a 2 point effort wide plus another short. He kicked a point but with the possession he had, he should have done alot more and this had little or nothing to do with McCole. I would put it more down to a Morris off day. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 752 - 15/07/2025 16:40:15 2625888 Link 0 |
McCole unquestionably the standout full back of 2025 so far. I'd happily buy a pint and listen to anyone who thinks Rafferty is the full back of the year. To compare the seasons they've had: Meath Result, Opponent, Division, conceded W, Carlow, Division 4, 0-19 W, Offaly, Division 3, 0-21 W, Dublin, Division 1, 1-16 L, Louth, SurelyToGod (Donegal) - Posts: 481 - 15/07/2025 16:47:10 2625890 Link 0 |

Morris may have had an off day but looking back in the game you can see for his shots he was put under immense pressure by McCole and other donegal players forcing him to shoot quickly and not being steady.

Should woulda coulda. But didn't. So what happened with Turbitt, Canavan, Doherty and O'Donoghue so? Off games too? Al_Maguire (Donegal) - Posts: 317 - 15/07/2025 19:28:10 2625929 Link 0 |
Oh and Sam Milroy too. He had another 'off day.'

The only commonality McCole and Rafferty have this season in Sam Mulroy. He got a sole point off McCole and got 1-7 off Rafferty. There's your answer. You're the shame fella that was trying to tell us last week that we were totally dependent on Murphy yet we scored 2-10 in the 25 minutes he was off the field on Sunday. peiledoir20 (Donegal) - Posts: 1271 - 15/07/2025 20:08:01 2625935 Link 0 |
