Replying To Pikeman96:  "Nobody suggested that New York would always compete in the Munster Championship, in the way they compete in the Connacht Championship now. The suggestion was just that they'd play the All-Ireland winners, and the winners could come from any of the four provinces.

You never know....Mayo might even get to play them again sometime. And I'm not being smart about it. I'd genuinely love to see you win an All-Ireland."
I think that's a terrible idea for New York to play the all Ireland winners . They will get slaughtered . Hardly confidence booster for them is it .

Ah thanks well I just hope we can get competitive again and I think Andy & Boyler will at least get us a Connacht title and a quarter final place next year . Best of luck to your county is well !

Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated and very insightful. Really novel idea and very original. Well done.

I don't thinnk it's such a terrible idea. It would be a guaranteed high-profile match for New York each year, that they could really make an occasion out of themselves as well. Would be a bit like how in soccer, a non-League team t would hope for a home draw against Liverpool or Arsenal in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, rather than one they might win against a lower tier side.

Of course, if it's like Grimsby v Manchester United, they'd end up with the best of both worlds! :D

I suppose when you put it like that it's not the worst idea. Though the way Kerry ones are going on at the minute if that idea went ahead New York will be playing them for 10 years in a row ha . Ridiculous stuff coming out of kerry at the minute !

I never said I had a suggestion. I'm happy with how things are. Just because you aren't doesn't mean the rest of us have to agree please. Thank you for this.

Meant to add in my previous post that New York would still get their "real" stab at championship victories in the Tailteann Cup anyway.

I'm actually starting to like the idea of them playing the All-Ireland winners every year. It couldn't be treated as a team holiday for the All-Ireland winners as it'd still be a championship match that would have to be won, but it would be an extra reward for their success all the same.

Never said you had to agree ? This is a public forum. You seem a bit anti mayo if you ask me .

I did not ask you though please. But I am not anti Mayo at all- how did you figure that out please? This is about New York, you know the big city we spoke about earlier?? Nothing to do with Mayo!! Thanks.

"At least" I admire your optimism Clare.

Andy & Boyler are inexperienced replacing the experience of McStay,Rochford Buckley etc who couldn't win Connacht with Mayo in the last 3 years and didn't reach the quarter final the last two years.

Replying To Kew:  "Connacht Senior Championship 2026

Sunday 12th April

3.00pm (8 pm)` New York v Roscommon Gaelic Park

Burns lost
Connacht won"
If New York are to play the defending All-Ireland champions it won't be in place until 2027,2028 at the earliest.

Roscommon v New York was always going ahead in 2026 regardless.

On Burns and indeed all GAA presidents they simply speak on behalf of those with actual power and then they try to convince enough in congress for each and every frequent change they make.

Why do you say I'm anti mayo thanks? I'm not anti mayo. I pity them really. Thinking they're good enough to contest all Irelands and them not within an asses roar of one. That delusion is nothing to be laughed at or take enjoyment from please. Thanks.

You say " your not anti Mayo " . Though you go on a rant !
We don't need anyone's pity .
We never said we are good enough to contest all irelands certainly not at the minute . We are in transition .
Though we are alot closer to Sam then Leitrim ever will be . Stop being so bitter it doesn't suit you well.

If New York had to play Dublin in the championship would New Yorks home game have to be played in Reykjavik because Dublin aren't used to travelling too far in games and it wouldn't be fair to bring them that far?

I am not bitter thanks very much. You should relax a little bit. Where did I go on a rant please?? Stating facts is not a rant thanks. How do you think being closer to Sam than Leitrim works please? No point being closer when you can't win it really is there?? That is like saying oh I was closer to the girl in the dance hall but she never looked at me. I would like to see Mayo win an All Ireland, but it won't happen in the near future- do well to win Connacht. Most Mayo peoples are nicey. Thanks.

Clare? Weird you need to get over that Mayo lady .

The experience of McStay & Rochford ? You've got to be having a laugh. Rochford was not good in Donegal to hence why he has gone to Tullamore sure .
Buckley who wasn't good enough to go to Kerry? They didn't want him I can see why .
Andy has already brought back alot of confidence in supporters and players . Boyler will bring back the toughness he said we are to nice which we are due to lack of confidence.
We have lots of talent coming up from under 20s and under 17s .
Cross are also doing really well in club championship with lots of youth there. Also Conor Loftus back fitter then ever great to see.

You can slag us off all you like but PJ is under alot more pressure then us. We are in transition but future is bright under Andy and Boyler .

I am relaxed .for starters when is the last time Leitrim were even close to a quarter or semi ? That's actually funny .
Well we are division 1 . Any team in division 1 has a chance or 2 . It will happen in a few years . Under Andy . Yeah we are nice but don't appreciate bitter folk like you . I don't know how this thread ended up being about Mayo when it's the New York thread . Oh wait I do because you lot brought us up .

I did not bring up mayo thanks. You may wish to think I did but I did not. So if you can not point that out you should apologise forthwith. Appreciate that.

We are well aware we won't win Sam. But what's the point of getting to quarters or semis when you never win anything. As I said it's like saying oh I was standing beside the nice girl but she hadn't a bit if interest. Thanks. Oh I'm not bitter at all there. I am sweet as a blueberry on a cherry topped bun. You seem to pick rows with everyone here. It's a little bit petty and worrying please. Anyway I wish Andrew well in his new role. Thanks

Take no notice blathach as I agree with you about that contributor.Always looking for a row to escape the fact that Mayo wont win anything.
