They also earn huge money fundraising on those trips.

All Ireland champions going to New York isn't a bad idea. If it comes to fruition, I presume it would be a provincial quarter final no matter who New York's opponents are. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9182 - 05/09/2025 15:28:57 2635018 Link 0 |
Yes pat Spillane always wanted Kerry getting in on the new York fundraising. It's a great weekend for Connacht football fans, would be a shame to lose it.

Typical kerry one . Wanting the great weekend away to New York. Also you get all the fundraising to. It's not enough that you get a walk through Munster and championship every year . You also need to take New York out of Connacht .. What a joke. Maybe Jarlaith Burns should take kerry out of Munster and into Ulster see how you lot do. Sick of the ' yerras' getting their way with everything . Sickening really. S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 366 - 07/09/2025 00:14:03 2635118 Link 0 |
Hands off our Connacht county. Connacht counties lost more people to migration and famine than any other part of Ireland and have huge diaspora in the US.

Hilarious all the Connacht people here whinging about losing the trip to New York. Those same people give out and whinge about the cost of having to go. So which is it please?! Plus you fundraiser there. Hadn't done Connacht counties much good for me. No all Ireland since 2001 thanks. bláthach (Leitrim) - Posts: 264 - 07/09/2025 11:22:04 2635151 Link 1 |
Agree a lot spur folks kerry wouldn't care paly bew York not. Mayo had chances blew all ireland finals not kerry just know how to win on the big days Connaught recently hasn't been that great . It is a bit ironic not surprising they moan about kerry and sone galway supporters who can't blame kerry for losing to meath and 2024 all ireland are getting as bad mayo fans instead focusing on their own failings Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 992 - 07/09/2025 16:14:16 2635180 Link 0 |
Put mayo in munster then guarantee or kerry in Connaught kerry win most titles still maybe they re just better than Gaaforlife2023 (Longford) - Posts: 992 - 07/09/2025 16:15:37 2635181 Link 0 |
Kerry have lost on plenty of big days. Gooch played in 9 All-Ireland finals and lost more of those than he won. He got a medal for 2014, but didn't kick a ball that year.Clifford has lost as many as he has won. The difference is they're back regularly. Galway supporters are well aware of our own failings. All the fingers get pointed internally for our inability to get over the line. It's up to ourselves to sort it out. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2526 - 07/09/2025 18:40:59 2635207 Link 3 |
Hilarious coming from someone from Longford . We know well our failings in Mayo you don't need to remind us. So because we've failed we can't point out the obvious that it's ridiculous of Jarlaith Burns to suggest moving New York out of Connacht ? We only blew 1 final that was 21 . The rest we were beaten by the better team Dubs 6 in a row. It's ironic that you seem very bitter towards Mayo being from Longford . S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 366 - 07/09/2025 21:58:26 2635246 Link 0 |
It's hilarious ones from Leitrim going on about Mayo . Maybe take Kerry out of Munster so they don't have such an easy walk through to finals every year ? Clare and Cork are hurling counties maybe ?! So why if they shouldn't take kerry out of Munstsr to Ulster say ... why should they take New York out of Connacht ? Ridiculous stuff . Though you are from Leitrim so . Sure Mayo should have a similar "easy" path so- all there are in Connacht are five counties and as you say one is Leitrim so that makes it four and you still fill the togs every year. And Galway play hurling too so it's s hurling county so that makes three so your point is what exactly???? That ye could have a bye to the all Ireland and ye would still find ways to lose it. I like this please thanks

And in case you hadn't noticed New York wouldn't be taken out of Connacht as it is not in Connacht to start with please. It is a big city in America, I know you may never have left Mayo but look at an atlas- you will see it there. It has big tall buildings and so forth. You would like this place and you can get there on a big metal thing called an aeroplace and it goes neee owwww many time and you can sleep on it too. Amazing please. Thanks for engaging.

Connacht Senior Championship 2026 Kew (Galway) - Posts: 266 - 09/09/2025 19:07:04 2635495 Link 0 |
In fairness, bit premature to be declaring a result like that just because details were announced of a fixture that was always going to go ahead anyway. Seems people here either don't know or are deliberately overlooking how it was the Connacht Secretary John Prenty who said the whole thing should be reviewed after next year. Burns just made a suggestion after Prenty made the original point. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 3092 - 09/09/2025 22:39:29 2635517 Link 0 |
I've felt for a while that GAA should consider a div 3 or 4 team playing New York in championship. It will give New York a meaningful competitive with a good chance of winning game prior to tailteann cup and a good opportunity for fans of weaker county to have a trip and fundraiser for their team in New York NorthLongfordforlife (Longford) - Posts: 10 - 10/09/2025 09:40:20 2635533 Link 1 |
But why into Munster ? . Kerry will absolutely destroy Nes York if that happens. Should be reviewed but leave New York in Connacht . Reason why New York and London are in Connacht is because most people from Connacht moved abr9ad to New York and London . S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 366 - 10/09/2025 12:13:43 2635562 Link 0 |
Why review it if leaving New York in Connacht please? Sure that's leaving things as they are so this would be utterly pointless. Thanks in advance for answer forthcoming.

Nobody suggested that New York would always compete in the Munster Championship, in the way they compete in the Connacht Championship now. The suggestion was just that they'd play the All-Ireland winners, and the winners could come from any of the four provinces. You never know....Mayo might even get to play them again sometime. And I'm not being smart about it. I'd genuinely love to see you win an All-Ireland. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 3092 - 10/09/2025 15:20:54 2635599 Link 1 |
Review as in they should play a lower division team like yourselves so they have a decent chance.
