It definitely wasn't because of the attendance, God knows why anyone would think that. Dublin, Antrim and Westmeath have small hurling fanbases and the distances are much further for Leinster counties. Of course the attendances will be lower. I noticed that Kilkenny who have a big hurling fan base only got just over 11,000 for the visit of Galway last week. Why do you think that was? Thought croke park didn't even break even if less than 30 thousand as I remember was mentioned a few years back..also could they not have put the under 20 football semi on with it and add a few more thousand,that game was played in Parnell park..I just can't figure fixtures anymore.. I said snarkiness but now that you say it smugness would work just as well. Of course I think it was a great attendance in Cork, did I say anything to suggest otherwise? I'm not from either county so I don't know, perhaps because it was live on telly. Why do you think there was a small attendance in Nowlan Park last week? Cork has a much bigger population and they were playing their traditional big rival in Munster. KK and Galway has never struck me as a big rivalry. Anyway you weren't comparing like for like. Antrim play at a small stadium and bring a good crowd for all their home games. Hurling is a minor sport in Westmeath and they are the weakest team in Leinster. Kerry v clare 12,499 Galway v Sligo 11,867 Not unexpected numbers but pretty average attendances . Huge number of football fixtures coming up in a short space of time , these games were both predicted to be one sided which proved to be the case and live on the box . Mundane football fixtures on tv bar the odd exciting not helping . Lesser amount of hurling fixtures with tighter outcomes definitely attracting more bums on seats . 37k in cork saturday night and 31k in limerick previous saturday . Every county who has more than 10k is winning or looking like it. Any county who doesn't have 10k is at a low ebb. Cork have an enormous bandwagon, always had always will.
