Replying To Breffni40:  "So you don't see how stupid your comparison is and where you are adding subjective opinions to objective realities to form what you consider facts?

Stop crying about me putting words in your mouth too. I haven't. You just haven't articulated your nonsense and doubled down on it when challenged"
You have put words in my mouth, you said a few posts ago that I said that benitez equalled Fergusons European record, when I never said any such thing. That's an objective reality for you right there.
I'll repeat myself, in 3 years, between 2005 - 2007, benitez, while manager of Liverpool (1 title, and one close final) ALMOST (keep that word in mind, Breff, almost) equalled Fergies record of European cups (2, and two incredibly one sided finals) in over twenty years at United.

All they have is subjective stuff about luck and opposition and whatnot, stuff that of course they would never apply to any other team. I mean Galway9801 said, presumably with a straight face, that Ferguson's career achievements were the same as what Benitez nearly achieved in 3 years. There's no middle ground to be achieved in this context."
This is the post in question.
You said that I claimed that benitez cachievements in 3 years almost equalled Fergies "career achievements". I never said that, or anything that could even be construed as such.
Your post is right here for all to see,so hold your hands up avd admit you lied.

I even posted a similarly ridiculous comparison to highlight this and you misconstrued that too

Can't believe I have to type this out but I never said you said that he equalled it. Just questioned the relevance when he didn't. How do you not understand how thick this is? When your entire point rests on what one person nearly did and your own subjective and very selective value of good fortune then I think it's pretty flakey tbh

Replying To SaffronDon:  "So do you have to grow up in Brooklyn New York to be a fan of Mike Tyson too? Buying a Rolling Stones album and saying you're in the band isn't what sports fans do with the team/athletes they support either, is it? I don't hear any fans saying they're available for selection when they follow their team. Just like music, if you like an artist you want to go and see them live. What's the big deal? Why does someone elses passions annoy you and others so much?"
"Buying a Rolling Stones album and saying you're in the band isn't what sports fans do with the team"

It kinda of is though, saying "we" and "us", just because you bought merch from the official online store. People sitting in their living room wearing replica tops is odd behaviour, it's like dressing up as Phil Mitchell to watch Eastenders.

What actually annoys me is the knock effect of Sky, which turned football into a TV show 30 years ago, only going to get worse. Hopefully the European Super League becomes a reality and the corporate monsters of clubs Barca, Utd, Liverpool etc bugger off and leave the rest of us in peace.

I never said anything of the sort, and you know it. Of course Fergies career on the whole is on a different planet to benitez.

If you just admit you lied about what I said I'd be happy to leave it at that avd move on but instead you've just dug your heels in avd resorted to gaslighting.

Why do you care what anyone says?"]You shouldn't misrepresent what other posters say, it takes all of the integrity away from the discussion rendering it completely pointless and takes all the enjoyment out of it.. By all means disagree, but don't put words in peoples mouths.

Besides, the only reason any of us is here to begin with is to debate matters ,and no if us would do that if we didn't care what people say to begin with.

You might be getting a bit carried away with dressing up as Phil Mitchel for EastEnders being the same as a supporter buying a jersey or polo of their favourite team but whatever you need to tell yourself. Again if people use 'we' or 'us' maybe it's to do with the interest they show in whatever sport that may be. Just because you don't show the same interest in soccer doesn't mean everyone has to live like you. Thankfully everyone has a right to follow who they want and however dedicated they decide to be to that team.

I do agree that money is ruining the sport and measures to prevent footballing monopolies are filled with tiresome loopholes. I think VAR is becoming a joke of a law besides for offsides and goal line calls it causes too many unnecessary stops to a flowing game. But that aside it's still the most followed sport in the world so I'd say that speaks louder than your own personal opinion.

I wonder who thought a portal between NYC and Dublin was a good idea? Dublin City center is a Kip right now. I've seen videos of Gardai having to remove a woman and some fella holding up his phone to NY showing the planes hitting the towers.

What film would you suggest they show on a Sunday afternoon in May?
