With the way things are going if there's 10,000 in Hyde park I'll be surprised.

14,000 tickets sold already as of yesterday according to the ah ref pod so I reckon it's heading for 20k especially if it's a fine day.

Game now heading for a sell out going by media reports. Looks like the Mayo support is back (could be our final game) on the back of the victory in Omagh. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11647 - 11/06/2025 22:43:35 2616798 Link 0 |

Mayo fans have no excuse not to go, it's practically a home game for most of them, weather looks good for Sunday, going to be a great atmosphere no doubt. Draw suits both teams, that's my prediction now, if we are level round the 65 min mark and Tyrone are winning well I can see us playing out the draw. Don't see how you can play out a draw in Gaelic football.. one misplaced hand pass in the middle third and it's almost certainly a score. Also, Mayo have no safety net if Tyrone beat Cavan. A defeat means end of season. Say it's level, we let Donegal play keep ball for the last few minutes.. then the hooter goes. What's to stop langan, mcbrearty etc having a pop at the posts with the last kick of the game? Mayo can't bet their season on Donegal doing the gentlemanly thing.. Respectfully, do Mayo have to 'up their performance from the Tyrone game' by much? This is not the All Ireland Champions or the Dublin teams of past they are playing. Donegal are by no means the finished article and have , in the past 2 seasons, been caught by both Tyrone and Cork in the group stages. Mayo, if they play to their strengths, should not fear this Donegal team and have a great chance if they do.

Agree if it came down to that, Who would Donegal see as a bigger threat down the line? Draw with Mayo and keep them in I don't think at this stage you can afford to play for a draw. A winning mentality gives great momentum and confidence. I still think Mayo need to up their game massively. Tyrone were off the last day in the same way Mayo were off when Cavan visited. Mayo have a big game in them but its the type of game we haven't seen from them in a while ponger (Cavan) - Posts: 583 - 13/06/2025 20:58:35 2617277 Link 0 |
Going on 2025 form of both teams we have to improve an awful lot to avoid defeat on Sunday.

Yes it weird psychology against teams from other provinces. If mayo play Galway tomorrow it feels almost 50/50 but mayo seem large underdogs Similarly whenever rossies are playing a Kerry I except them to get a hiding but if playing Galway or Mayo I'd expect to be tight 1-7 I think mayo are as good as anyone and can tie up likes of gallen Thompson. It all depends on other end. Young rourty reminds me a lot of Jonny McGrath so may get job on ROD and mccole is a good match up on AOS jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1579 - 14/06/2025 08:41:35 2617300 Link 0 |
We're Tyrone really that off though ? I don't think they were . I think we just put in a big performance v Tyrone . Donegal are not as good as the media say . S1234 (Mayo) - Posts: 202 - 14/06/2025 11:06:54 2617312 Link 1 |
100% Mayo need to up there performance from the Tyrone game, the performance was good and its a great starting point especially after the Cavan performance. tommy132 (Mayo) - Posts: 645 - 14/06/2025 12:37:38 2617330 Link 1 |
Didn't see that happening with the lack of interest so far. Then as the competition goes on interest builds. Still it was a pretty dismal fan showing so far. cluichethar (Mayo) - Posts: 547 - 14/06/2025 13:44:58 2617337 Link 0 |
Wasn't there 27 or 28k at the Connacht final this year? Biggest attendance in many years. It's not possible to have huge attendances at every match now with the new format and more compact season. Previously you'd be straight into a quarter final after winning a provincial title. These group games and prelim qfs are glorified qualifier games from the previous all Ireland format so attendances will reflect that. Hard luck Mayo. Ye showed serious fight and intensity. Shooting let ye down. Horrid way to lose the game at the death. FullOfPorter (Roscommon) - Posts: 193 - 15/06/2025 18:06:36 2617792 Link 2 |

Had that match today marked down as a draw and had money on it. Couldn't have got much closer to a draw basically seconds away, Worst part for Mayo is that Donegal didn't need a winner as draw for them still put them 2nd in the table. In hindsight tough it was Cavan at home that cost Mayo the most. Gaa_lover (USA) - Posts: 3655 - 15/06/2025 18:50:54 2617807 Link 0 |
