In the article, Joe said Aiden O'Shea scored a combined 0-0 in seven senior all-ireland finals and replays with Mayo. Said it reminded him of the old Billy Connolly gag, where Billy used to say that he was 13 years old when he realised that their name wasn't Partick Thistle Nil.

Sure why don't you go to their next game and ask him?

Monaghan away is not the worst draw we could have got but it's still a serious test. If we repeat that :ne half performance v the rossies than Monaghan will have a field day. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12135 - 05/05/2026 14:14:03 2671110 Link 0 |

Run along to the Monaghan forum good lad. Are you the original Belclare poster by any chance ? Or maybe you forgot to sign out.

Let's be honest Morans one year as a coach with Monaghan was totally overblown by the media.

Should be a straight forward Monaghan win, Mayo are the 4th team in Connacht now behind the top 2 of Galway and Leitrim and then a big drop back to Roscommon in 3rd. Gantric (Leitrim) - Posts: 159 - 05/05/2026 14:36:44 2671120 Link 0 |

You can say that again.

Anybody know what the story is with Stephen Coen? He could really sure up that defence. Holds the 6 well. He lacks a yard of pace but he makes up for it in brains, as a Galway man I never like to see him togging out for mayo. A believable player on his day…. Brilliant servant to mayo and utmost respect to him. Galwayman67420 (Galway) - Posts: 48 - 07/05/2026 19:00:44 2671499 Link 0 |

Seems to have fallen down the pecking order. It's funny though because the Mayo defence is presently a mess.

Anyone know when the actual date/time for our game with Monaghan will be fixed? A suggestion was made for the early draw was it gives time for teams to plan logistically….well there is no fixture announced yet so why have the draw so early? yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12135 - 13/05/2026 07:25:26 2672706 Link 1 |

May 31st at 4 PM, Yew. Took them two weeks to announce that but no tickets on sale yet!

Hennelly in Goal is not a reset. From what I'm led to believe in recent challenge games, Livingston will be in goal. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 12135 - 25/05/2026 11:47:09 2675310 Link 1 |

How so? Did they not gain promotion to division 1? Surely that's a successful year for any team? Players and coaches all spoke very highly of him. It's amazing when he got Leitrim promoted he was still considered a poor manager by a lot of Leitrim people. Should have got promoted in his second year and did so in his third. Yet the same people say the current manager is doing a fantastic job. Current managers league form is poor and bar a good result against a Sligo side who are in real trouble it hasn't been a great 2 years. So what are your requirement for a successful year? Wexford going to Division 2 will be a step too far for us I fear especially without Barry, Tom and Cillian but I will cling to a small bit of hope.

Agree with you re Andy Moran. He has a good record. .However your analysis re current manager doesn't stack up.Andy Mioran had an established team , including Donal Wrynn, Darragh Rooney Jack Gilkeaney , Pearse Dolan. Paddy Maguire, Donal Casey , Mark Plunket and Beirne for 2 years.Stephen Poacher had to start with a blank sheet and bring in U20 players. In the circumstances he is doing an amazing job. joeman123 (Leitrim) - Posts: 671 - 26/05/2026 10:30:30 2675644 Link 0 |
