Fair play to scotstown a lot of begrudgers on this site and it's great to see success come to not only scotstown but monaghan any club that contributes 7 or 8 players to the county team is not to be made little of and sneared at again congrats to scotstown enjoy it Farneyblueandwhite (Monaghan) - Posts: 110 - 13/12/2025 23:06:13 2648280 Link 0 |

Kieran Hughes was good tonight,as was McCarthy when introduced. Jack was anonymous in Ulster but good within Monaghan and young Murray too. But lads.... Rory. The best and most influential Monaghan gaa player (closely followed by Conor) EVER! And IMO Cluxton isn't in the same league for influence on a team. He has won numerous games on his own for Monaghan and especially Scotstown over the years. It's reminiscent of Maradona (showing my age!) in 1986-89 for Argentina and Napoli. Never since have I seen one man drag teams to victory singlehandedly so many times. 11 points from him tonight!! 11 points from GK! Masks a lot of deficiencies in that Scotstown team. Closest thing to a one man team in Monaghan GAA ever. There's no tactics or strategies needed with that man in the team(luckily enough because Scotstown were very poor on the line again tonight). We're lucky he's from Monaghan. Scotstown are blessed he's from there. LEGEND Matchwatcher (Monaghan) - Posts: 25 - 13/12/2025 23:18:16 2648282 Link 1 |

Split the post 5 times and not 11 for context but agree with all including another Ulster campaign the transfer was anonymous in. Which doesn't tarnish yesterdays win despite some comments

Out of interest why and where does the begrudging and snearing come from.

The physical change in Scotstown in 12 months is remarkable. On several occasions when they turned kilcoo over the pace and athleticism they showed was unbelievable. MonaghanMan44life (Monaghan) - Posts: 125 - 14/12/2025 15:14:30 2648322 Link 0 |

Took the words out of my mouth. Plenty of senior teams over the years have been carried by a one man band. Paul Finlay carried ballybay for years on his back. Bit of a stupid post that.

Listened to Kieran Hughes interview after game on Saturday last night. Kieran is as good a footballer that ever came out of monaghan but always thought he was underrated nationally as he played so many different positions with club and county and had bad injuries over the years. Im absolutely certain monaghan would made an all ireland final in 18 if hed been fully fit that season and he was huge that day in 13 v Donegal in the ulster final. Delighted he has now bagged an ulster club medal and will get to showcase his talents one more time on the national stage. seanie08 (Monaghan) - Posts: 1925 - 15/12/2025 11:14:28 2648385 Link 0 |

Congratulations Scotstown on a brilliant campaign and final victory. It has all been said about the leaders of the team at this point, but worth mentioning also the role played by Shane Carey, Ryan O'Toole and Gavin McPhillps on Saturday night. All made big interventions at key times. Beggan's display will go down in the annals of Ulster club football, just immense. The gale blowing on the night discouraged Kilcoo from shooting for half the game, no such limitation for Scotstown with that man in play. Couldn't agree more. Class big game player that was a vital cog in the success of monaghan GAA in the past 15 years. He made some difference coming off the bench in 2018 and 2023. Maybe even we could have pipped dublin in 23 as opposed to starting him if he came on. His two points Saturday night where off the charts in the second half and he deserves that medal.
