Then those clubs are the problem. All knew the games didn't start until March.

Club football poor, can't even get a county player from our intermiedate champions. Most small clubs struggling and town teams are as bad. New championship structure dosent help, favours the bigger clubs. I suppose its all about money though. 222 (UK) - Posts: 695 - 08/03/2024 12:08:38 2530304 Link 0 |
The clubs with the biggest picks are falling apart at the seams . Look at Truagh, county finalists a few years ago and now struggling to get a squad together since the agm a few years ago

Very simple, managers lifting €80-100 a night training a team. The mercenaries in the GAA would have young fellas training 7 nights a week with no games if they were let. This craic of managers doing laps of ulster and swapping clubs between each other needs to be stopped, it's what's really killing the GAA. There's no reason a decent size club shouldn't be able to breed their own managers through the juvenile ranks - instead of paying wedges of money to some clown from the neighbouring county who fluked a cup ten years ago.. these lads land in knowing they'll be there 3-4 years max and have no interest developing young lads.. Jarlath Burnes talked already about the need to tackle this issue, the sooner he gets the revenue involved to audit clubs and weed out these people the better. Point proven. Fault of the clubs.

Truagh are most definitely not struggling to get a squad together. As evident by the fact they they have a 'D' team this year.

All very well in theory…for example take corduff and the bottomless pit of money being spent on there senior team.. you honestly don't think that money is coming out of the club coffers so a club audit would be pointless…..

They had a D team last year is well.. truagh's problem is that they have 2 many players of the 1 ability which isn't senior championship standard…

Who's over them this year?

Absolutely agree with this, most of those guys not doing anything special when they do get involved anyway. Never understood it, especially smaller clubs paying out thousands of euro each year when that would be better spent on equipment, underage etc., However I think a lot is player driven in some clubs - almost an expectation now you should have outside manager, outside s&c coaches.... sporto (Monaghan) - Posts: 158 - 11/03/2024 10:25:32 2530706 Link 0 |
The Monaghan website is an absolute joke for fixtures. The 'select competition' section is a mess, there are too many redundant links that could easily be removed to make it so much more user friendly. It's been like this for well over a year, for something so simple one wonders why it hasn't been done.

It's linked to the national platform, Ulster gaa also. It is volunteers running it so cut them a little slack…

It was definitely better a few years ago, tidier and easier to use. Genuine question , is this still up to volunteers to run this? Have we not we not got the finances to have staff in an operational capacity? I know we have plenty of development staff and games development.

Games and development staff are for as their title….. the gaa is amateur at its core.. all the committee etc is volunteers… PRO and IT committee are volunteers

I'm sorry but but properly categorising competitions within a menu and removing duplicate headings is not an onerous task and has nothing to do with being linked to the national platform or the Ulster GAA one (something which I would query). The Monaghan GAA website once won an award as the best county website but there has been a gradual slide ever since. I challenge anyone to go to the 'fixtures and results' section and access the 'select competition' menu and tell me that what is on offer is good enough.

Approach the county board and offer your services so. The chairman's number is on the website and the gas's main website. He's very easy to get in touch with and very accommodating to callers.

Of course but the central and ulster fixture are fed into it … Monaghan GAA are not putting the national league fixtures up. It's up to Monaghan to do their own fixtures but it is volunteers after all veterngaa (Monaghan) - Posts: 399 - 12/03/2024 13:49:41 2530909 Link 0 |
Don't worry, I volunteer many hours each week to the GAA. Why you seem to have taken such offence to my comments when there was nothing personalised in them is beyond me. The fixtures & results section is not up to scratch and hasn't been for well over a year, if not more. There is a relatively simple fix to the problem to make it much more user friendly, someone is responsible for this task but it has been neglected for some time now. I commend everyone who volunteers their time to the association but criticism shouldn't be verboten. The least club players, mentors, supporters and general members should expect from a county website is to be able to find fixtures and results easily without having to sift through a poorly laid out menu with an excessive amount of redundant links. You do touch on an interesting issue though, if there are areas in which assistance is required such as website development/maintenance, social media content creation/graphic design or any other area, it would be a good idea to see a public invite to people with relevant skills that may be willing to assist. monaghan_ultra (None) - Posts: 211 - 12/03/2024 22:21:50 2530972 Link 1 |
It's not as simple as you make it. Do you think people are manually entering results ? As far as I know the refs text into the system after a match too and it automatically updates from the text. If you really want to know fixtures ask your secretary. They have them all.
