You are spot on, on both fronts there.....

I see Ger Brennan has stepped down as Louth manager. I presume that means he is interested in the big job.

If true it would be interesting to hear why he doesn't rate Bohan. Anyway will surely be Ger Brennan stepping into the hot seat, no easy task so deserve praise for taking it on.

I would think his time with Louth was up in any case even if the Dublin job was not available… He really wasn't going to improve on this season… I think he would be a major step up from Dessie Farrell…!

Yes, I heard he had decided to leave Louth anyway, also.

If he takes the Dublin job, he will need a hell of a coaching team with him, imo.
This job is different gravy, as they say....

If Ger does get the Dublin job, it will be very interesting to see who joins him.

Massive shake up required though.

Interesting interview by Niall after the game today:-

https://www.rte.ie/sport/hurling/2025/0705/1522049-no-excuses-from-dublin-as-risks-fail-to-pay-off/

Dublin went man for man and lined out with three forwards rather than trying to limit the potent Cork full-forward line but that backfired as Alan Connolly (3-02) and Brian Hayes (2-01) scored five goals between them and Patrick Horgan (0-08, 6fs) had a couple of assists.

"We intentionally didn't," said Ó Ceallacháin when asked whether Dublin could have set up more defensively.

"I've been proven wrong now, so I can be fairly criticised. But the way we see it is, there's just no point in a zonal back six against a team like Cork. You won't concede seven goals, but you will lose the game.

"So is it risky setting up like that? It absolutely is. It didn't work. They were very sharp and they were excellent. But what I would say is with the alternative you won't lose by 20 points like what we lost there, but you will lose the game.

"It was always going to be a high risk. Is there a difference of 20 points between us and the top team in Ireland? I don't think there is, but, you know, the reality is as we leave here, that's kind of what we're looking at."

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. But we will learn from this.

Hoping the rumours I heard over the weekend are not true.
We dont need a load of ex players on the coaching ticket.
Forward thinking is needed and a big shake up is required.

Did nt hear a dickie myself but Kildare had a lot of ex players on their coaching ticket with Ryan and look how that worked out Fionn.

Well one player in particular that was mentioned, should not be anywhere near it.

Try not to beat yourselves up too much.

That's a serious Cork team.

It feels awful now but surely at the beginning of the year if someone said you'd beat Limerick on the way to a semi final you'd take it.

After a long winter you can approach Leinster 2026 full of confidence and with a real chance.

Yes, I am definitely taking the positives out of the season and looking forward to seeing what Niall can get out of these players next year.
And who knows a fit Danny and EOD to return, and maybe the return of you know who....

Niall got his tactics completely wrong but I have to admire his attitude in going for it. Naïve of course but he will learn from it.

Hurling needs a competitive Leinster and with Lee Chin staying on next year, that is a massive boost to Wexford also.

I had to tip my cap to Cork on the day though - it was some performance. Levels we aspire to.
Not often we get the chance to get to an All Ireland Hurling Final - hopefully one day......
