Replying To gaelsboy:  "Bit harsh, Leitrim had their strongest panel out since Poacher took over and had some great victories that merited a far better finish than 2nd last in league, more like you underestimated us and we caught you cold.
We came back from losing to NY to getting promoted the following year and Sligo will come back as well, would rather avoid Sligo in the TC as revenge will be sought"
Agree, Sligo underestimsted Leitrim with talk of taking down one of the big 3 in Connacht!!!

Remember Sligo were very lucky to beat Leitriim in the Tailteann Cup last year and we had our key players today.
Finally great credit to Stephen Poacher. He took a lot of unfair criticism last year, he is doing a superb job.

Replying To SligoScot:  "Well done Leitrim and credit where its due. From a Sligo point of view, its Shameful. We are supposed to be further down the road in our development than the liked of Leitrim and today showed us up and is as far as I'm concerned an all time low for Sligo senior football.
Listening on the radio seemed like there was no Sligo support. Can anyone give us a run down on team selection ?
Evan Lyons missing? Paul Kilcoyne starting and Niall Murphy getting hooked."
Embarrassing..........for you to post such a self damning statement. Maybe you expexted soneone to buy a programme and send it to you.

A change of mgmt was needed- things had gone stale for the previous 2 years. Let's not forget Sligo under McEntee had 2 close shaves against Leitrim. A penalty shoot out win and a fortunate win last year. It is extremely disappointing to be beaten by Leitrim we sjoipd have enough top players even without the likes of some very important players in Mullan, McGuinness, Lyons, OConnor, Carribine, Ross Doherty, the spine of the team. Maybe a few of the more experienced players should have started but some who did start were poor. McLoughlin at the end, what was he thinking. A repeat of county final 3 years ago.

I don't recall anyone on about taking down one of the big 3 in Connacht…anyone who did must have had too much of the bottle. I recall saying before that whoever won today's game would be getting a double digit beating to Galway and that'll still probably be the case..but enjoy today as it was deserved. Leitrim have ran Sligo close the odd time but remember last years league 0-32 to 0-10 and 2024 championship 0-6 to 0-15 in Carrick. So the expectation that Sligo would win was well grounded in recent performances. It's what's changed on the line that's the issue.
