We can play Derry or Down and we can also play Monaghan. The only teams being kept apart are the provincial finalists. Teams who are due to meet in a provincial final (seeds 1 and 2) cannot be in the same group. However, teams who have already played each other earlier in this year's championships can be drawn to the same groups. greenfan (Donegal) - Posts: 625 - 29/04/2025 16:03:07 2605437 Link 0 |
Would prefer to avoid Ulster teams generally if we can CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 161 - 29/04/2025 16:23:47 2605445 Link 0 |
Definitely. Although maybe not another trip to Cork! :P

Apparently no rule on counties meeting again in groups apart from two finalists and since draw is tomorrow it would be impossible to make draw with those stipulations in place. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 316 - 29/04/2025 17:29:49 2605478 Link 0 |
A trip to Cork and only a week apart would not be ideal. Only having a week break between match one and two is not fair. With the draw before the provincials there could a situation where in would be better to lose the Ulster final if you're goal is the all Ireland. A draw of louth, Donegal, Roscommon and cavan would be a lot better than Donegal, mayo, Dublin .and Derry!

Best of luck to the 20s. Over the years we've a poor enough record in under 20/21 ulster finals and probably not been at our best in some of the finals. I sometimes think that we need to be 4/5 points better than Tyrone to beat them by a point. Tyrone do seem to be good at getting themselves right for finals. maybe I shouldn't say it too loudly but I really don't fear the Dubs and wouldn't mind drawing them in the group stages, would much prefer to meet them than Tyrone out of the third seeds CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 161 - 30/04/2025 09:13:44 2605581 Link 0 |
It's going to be a tough ask but I cannot help but be impressed by both what I've seen and any interviews I've heard from anyone involved with the group. I believe there are only a small number overage next year with some available for another 2 years. Tonight is going to be a big ask but I give them a massive chance.

really looking forward to tonights game and hoping Donegal can carry the form that has been a feature of their campaign so far. It's going to be tough and in McElholm Tyrone have one of the best players I have seen at his age in a long time, he's a delight to watch. If Donegal were to win it will be a massive boost for football in the county, either way it looks like the underage set up has been sorted out and is moving in the right direction. totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 1051 - 30/04/2025 10:52:42 2605609 Link 0 |

Is it Tyrone or Derry in our first group game.It would have been nice to get some other team for a change gunman (Donegal) - Posts: 1148 - 30/04/2025 14:35:03 2605706 Link 0 |
So if we win Ulster: Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9746 - 30/04/2025 14:49:15 2605714 Link 0 |
Yes we host either Derry or Tyrone Go away to Dublin or Cavan and Neutral v Galway or Mayo. Feels like winning Ulster is essential as a likely group of Galway, Dublin and Derry is going to be tough to top and quite possible to actually finish bottom. Biggest thing though is the groups are about pacing really and if we don't top group, you're playing 3 games in 3 weeks and nearly 50% chance you'd be playing Kerry in the quarter finals. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 316 - 30/04/2025 14:56:28 2605720 Link 0 |

Yep. The old GAA calendar chestnut will surely be discussed ad nauseum in the coming weeks.

Yeah Monaghan have plum draw of the whole lot. Even better than Kerry's group. They can now start planning and prepping with An All Ireland quarter final in sight. Favourites to too group, get the extra week prep to face a side playing three weeks in a row and potentially running on empty. Whereas we now have four or not five harder games to face to end up in same position and have already played two more games than them. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 316 - 30/04/2025 16:07:17 2605767 Link 1 |
Tough groups no matter if we win ulster or not but it would be a good measuring stick to see where we are ! eddieSize5Balls (Donegal) - Posts: 130 - 30/04/2025 18:33:44 2605830 Link 0 |
Tyrone deserved their win, Donegal never say die, but they performed poorly for large parts of the gamecand committed too many basic errors. Died with their boots on but will be very disappointed with their own performance totalrecall (Leitrim) - Posts: 1051 - 30/04/2025 21:33:53 2605857 Link 0 |
Sickener. Chaotic in extra time with rules being broken and missed and then not missed! CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 161 - 30/04/2025 21:35:29 2605859 Link 0 |
